UNITASSEMBLY
Layout t he unffas shown in figure2. Remove t he nutand bolt from the uppersection (left portion of Figure 2).
Slidethe bottom portionintotheupperportion as indicated. Thetwohakes should snaptogether.Re-insert the
nutandbolt to the uppersection, andtighten bolt.Theunit should nowbe rigidlysecured.
GUARDASSEMBLY
Remove the
screw from theguard
and insert
the
guard intothe slot (marked by arrows)in the trimmerhead as
shownin Figure3. Ensure tileguard isfullyinserted.Re-insert the screw through the trimmerheadand into
the guard andtightenas shown in figure 4.
NEVEROPERATE THETOOLWITHOUTTHEGUARD PROPERLY IN PLACE. U seof the unit with out having
installedthe guard will causethe motor to overheat,andvoid the warranty.

MOUNTINGTHECHARGER BRACKET
1. If youintendto mount,the charger bracketon a wall, follow the instructionslisted below.
2. Remove the two screws and plastic anchors fromthe plasticbag.
3. Usethe charger bracketto mark the locations of the holes required.Besureto mountthe brackethigh
enough sothat the trimmer can hangfieely fromit;about4 feet(I .2m) fromthe floor:
4. Drilla .250" (6 mm) diameterhole at eachmarked location.
5. Insert the plasticanchorsintotheholes and insert oneof the screws in eachone.Tighten the screws until
the headsare abovethe anchorsjustenough sothat the charger bracketwill fit between the anchorand
the screw head.
6. Placethe charger bracketon the wall narrow end up) and makesure that the power cord is positioned
in the side s at. Pressthe charger bracketover the screw heads and side it down unti it sits firmly on the
SCI_'%WS.
7. Firmly tighten both screws.
LED INDICATOR LIGHT
Theunitis equipped with a red LEDcharging indicator light, located on the upperleft sideof the unit
(Figure 1). The indicator light will comeon when the unit isproperly connectedto the charging base and the
power plug is insertedintothe electrical o utlet. The lightwill remainon, so long asthe unit ispraperly
connectedto the poweredcharging base. It is recommendedto storethe unit on the charger during the
growing season,with the charger plugged in, to havethe battery charged for the next use.
TO CHARGE YOURRAI"I'ERY, FOLLOW THESTEPS BELOW
1. Install t he trimmer ontothe charger bracketby positioningthe handle cavity, shown in Figure7 over the
hookof the charger bracket.
2. Rotatethe trimmer down, keepingthe hook engagedwith the handle cavity, and positionthe chargeport
overthe bracket'schargepin (figure7).
3. Plugthe charcjerintoany standard 120 volt,60Hz outlet.Chargingwill be automatically c ontrolled until
you removethetrimmer fromthe bracket.
4. It is recommended t hat the trimmer be left on charge, durinqthe flrowieg season. F orwinteror other
extended periods of storage,it is recommended that the unlit b e f[tlly charged prior to storage.
3. Remove the spool from the tool and removeand discard all line on spook
4. ChooseeitherOPTION 1 or OPTION2 belowfor spoolor line replacement.
5. Insert the line endthrough the eyeletin the spool hub,as shownin figure9. Ensurethe spring isin place
underthe spool.Pullthe line through the hole to tighten tensionwhile placing the spooldown into the
hub, as shownin Figure9.
6. Press the spooldownGENTLY on the springand rotate it untilyou feel it drop intoplace.Takecare to
keepthe line frombecoming trappedunder the spcoh
7. Snapthe hub capback on holdr the tool in the trimming position, and torn the toolon. In a fewseconds
or lessyou'llhear thenylonline beingcut to the properlength; if notbumpthe feedhead gentlyon the
groundto releasea freshlength of line.

2. Snugly andevenlywindthe bulk line ontothe spoolin thedirection of the arrowon the spool, (figure11),
untilthe fine builds up to the notches in the spoolrim. DOnot overfillspool.Thespoolholds about20 feet
(6 m) of line.

• To torn trimmer on, pull back on the lock out button, shown in Figure 1, at the same time, squeeze the
trigger switch. To tam the tool off, release the trigger switch.

CLEARING JAMSAND TANGLED UNES
Fromtimeto time,especiallywhen cutting thick or stalky weeds, t he line feeding hub may becomeclogged
with sap or othermaterialandthe line will become jammedas a result.Toclear the iam, foffowthe steps
listedbelow.
1. Turnthe unitupside down.
2. Press the releasetabs on the line hub cover andremoveby pulling it straight o ff (Figure8).
3. Liftthe spoolof nylonlineoutof the hubandclear any brokenline or cutting debrisfromthe spoolarea.
(Ifyou planto replacethe spoolor rewindit, this is the place to do so, otherwise, m oveon.)
4. Unwrapaboutonefoot 30 cm) of line to ensurethatit'sundamaged.If it is okay,rewindit andinsertthe
lineendthrough the eyeletin the spool hub as shownin figure 9. Ensure the springis in place underthe

or lessyou'll hear the nylonfine beingcutta the properlength; if notbumpthe feed head gently on the
