Start-Up Instructions
FOR INITAL START-UP
• Connect a proper sized power cord and correct voltage
to the heater male inlet plug.
• Set HEAT/OFF/VENT switch to HEAT mode.
• Set the Temperature Controller discharge setpoint
temperature. See Programming section on page 13 on
how to set the discharge air temperature.
• The Temperature Controller will always display the
current discharge air temperature.
HEATING MODE
1. Open all manual fuel supply valves. Check for gas
leaks using an approved leak detector.
2. Position the gas selector valve in the proper gas
position.
3. Position the HEAT/VENT selector switch on the
Control Panel to the heat (
4. The Temperature Controller will modulate the heater
discharge temperature based on the temperature set
point. If a RDU or a remote thermostat is connected to
the Temperature Controller, they will cycle the heater.
ATTENTION
It is normal for air to be trapped in the gas hose on new
installations. The heater may attempt more than one
trial for ignition before air is finally purged from the line
and ignition takes place. If the heater does not light, and
either the high limit or the fault red LED is ON, refer to
the troubleshooting guide in the owner's manual or scan
the QR code for troubleshooting guide.
VENTILATION MODE
When the selector switch is positioned to ventilation
mode (
), the fan motor will start, but the igniter will
not spark, nor will ignition occur. This feature is used
only when air circulation is required. The heater will not
cycle on
Temperature Controller or thermostat setting. To
discontinue the ventilation mode, position the switch to
off or heat.
OFF (O)
Position the switch to midpoint. O

supply line.
3. Once the heater has stopped, position the selector switch
to OFF (O).
4. Disconnect the heater from its gas and electrical supplies.
Cleaning Instructions
WARNING
Fire, Burn and Explosion Hazard
■ This heater contains electrical and mechanical
components in the gas management, safety and
airflow systems.
■ Such components may become inoperative or fail due
to dust, dirt, wear, aging, or the corrosive atmosphere
of an animal confinement building.
■ Periodic cleaning and inspection as well as proper
maintenance are essential to avoid serious injury
or property damage.
1. Before cleaning, shut off all gas supply valves and
disconnect the electrical supply
2. The heater should have dirt or dust removed periodically:
a. Before each use give the heater a general cleaning using
compressed air or a soft brush or dry rag on its case and
internal components. At this time, dust off the motor case
to prevent the motor from over-heating.
b. At least once a year, give the heater a thorough cleaning.
At this time, remove the fan wheel and brush or blow off
dirt from the fan wheel fins. Additionally, make sure the
burner tube ports are free of dust accumulation.
