4.. Refrigerant piping
4..1. When using commercially available copper pipes:
Installing procedures (Fig. 4-1)
1. Slide the supplied pipe cover 2 over the gas tubing until it is pressed against
the sheet metal inside the unit.
2. Slide the provided pipe cover 3 over the liquid tubing until it is pressed against
the sheet metal inside the unit.
3. Tighten the pipe covers 2 and 3 at the both ends (15 - 20 mm) with the sup-
plied bands 4.
See that stop valve on outdoor unit is fully shut (unit is shipped with valve shut).
After all piping connections between indoor and outdoor unit have been completed.
Test for gas leaks between the indoor unit and the preexisting tubes by running
nitrogen through the stop valve's service port on the outdoor unit.
Vacuum-purge air from system through the service port for the stop valve on the
outdoor unit.
After completing procedures above, open outdoor unit stop valves stem fully. This
completes connection of refrigerant circuit between indoor and outdoor units.
If the stop valves are left closed and the unit is operated, the compressor will be
damaged.
Stop valve instructions are marked on outdoor unit.
4.2.2. Specified tightening torques (use a torque wrench) (Fig. 4-2)

ø15.88
ø19.05
• If a torque wrench is not available, the following method may be used.
While tightening the flare nut with a spanner, stop turning the nut at the point
where the tightening torque suddenly increases. Then, turn the spanner the an-
gle specified in the table below.

5.1. Preparation for left side tubing installation (Fig. 5-1)
• For left side tubing, insert the rubber plug attached to the left side of drain pan to
the right side of drain port.
• Install the drain tubing as it slopes continuously downward.
• After completion of work, check that correct drain is available from the outflow
port of the drain tubing.
Installing procedures (Fig. 5-)
1. Attach the joint socket 5 supplied with the unit to the drain port on the unit with
a vinyl chloride adhesive.
2. Fasten the socket cover 6 supplied with the unit to the joint socket 5.
3. Attach the field drain tubing (VP20/O.D. ø26 PVC TUBE) to the joint socket 5
with a vinyl chloride adhesive.
4. Wrap the drain tubing cover 7 supplied with the unit. (Seam taping)
5. Check for correct drainage. (Fig. 5-3)
∗ Fill the drain pan with water of about 1 L from the tubing sensor access port.
∗ After checking for correct drainage, replace the tubing sensor access port cover.
