Preface
The AGSS Forano terminal unit from Greggersen Gasetechnik GmbH complies with the
relevant provisions of Regulation (EU) 2017/745 of the European Parliament and Council
on medical devices (MDR 2017/745) and is classified as a Class I active, non-invasive
device.
Intended use
To transfer residual gases during inhalation anaesthesia at a suitable disposal point.
Functionality
Terminal units in anaesthetic gas scavenging systems (AGSS) are connected directly to a
central compressed gas supply with a supply pressure of approx. 500 kPa compressed air or
nitrogen. The ejector is connected to the gas supply and generates a negative pressure in the
operational state. Excess anaesthetic gases are suctioned off by this negative pressure and
together with the compressed gas are passed via the suction line into the outside air or into
the exhaust air shaft of an air conditioning system.
The terminal unit is set to the operating state by connecting an AGSS connector or a hose
with the appropriate connection. If the connection is disconnected again, the suction stops.
An indicator is installed for operational control.
Warnings
• Prior to the use of the device, the user must be familiar with the
product and the instructions for use and has to have understood
them.
• The terminal unit must be checked for external damage or
contamination before each use. It must be ensured that the
terminal unit is correctly aligned and that the labelling on the
terminal unit is horizontal.
• When cleaning, make sure that no liquids enter the terminal unit.
After cleaning, the terminal unit must be dried completely.
• After installation of the terminal unit, an acceptance test
according to DIN EN ISO 7396-2 must be performed.
• Only use the terminal unit with type 1L AGSS connections.
• All serious incidents must be reported to Greggersen and to the
health authority responsible for the place of residence.
