Shipping Brace Removal
Makesuretheriding mower's engine isoff,remove theignitionkey,
andsettheparkingbrakebeforeremoving theshipping brace.Refer
totheOperation sectionfor instructions o n howtosetthe parking
brake.

Locate theshipping brace,if present, a ndaccompanying warning
tagfoundon therightsideof themower, b etween thedischarge
chutedeflectorandthecuttingdeck.SeeFig.2.
Forshippingreasons, b othbattery cables onyourequipment may
havebeenleftdisconnected f romtheterminals atthefactory. T o
connect t he battery cables,proceed a sfollows:
NOTE:Thepositive batteryterminal is marked Pos.(+).Thenegative
batteryterminal i smarked Neg.(-).

Remove the plastic cover,if present, f romthe positive battery
terminal a ndattachthe redcableto thepositive batteryterminal
(+)with theboltandhexnut.SeeFigure1.

Remove theplasticcover,if present, fromthe negative battery
terminal andattachthe black cableto thenegative battery
terminal ( -) with theboltandhexnut.See Figure1.

The shipping brace,used for packagingpurposes only, must be
removedand discarded before operating your riding mower.
Attaching
The Steering
Wheel
If the steering wheelfor your tractor did notcome attached, the
hardwarefor attaching it has been packed within the steeringwheel,
beneath the steeringwheelcap. Carefullypry off the steeringwheel
cap and removethe hardware.

With the wheels of the tractor pointing straightforward, place the
steeringwheel over the steeringshaft.
2.
Ptacethe washer (with the cuppedside down) overthe steering
wheeland secure with the hex bolt. See Fig, 3-3.
