Intended Use
The following points and instructions must be observed for the safe operation of the APS punching unit:
• APS punching units are suitable for the punching of metallic semi-finished products up to medium strength.
For a detailed description please refer to the "Carrying Capacity and Choice of Tools" section.
The APS 60-70-120 punching units are not suitable as standard for punching of high-strength tool
steels, or stainless material or boiler plates.
Attention
• The APS punching unit should only be stored in dry surroundings free from damp and other corrosive substances.
• The APS punching unit should only be operated in technically sound conditions.
• APS punching units should only be operated with the hydraulic pumps provided taking into account the maximum
pressure and flow rate (see technical data).
• For safe operation hydraulic oil must be used, of the class HLP 46 in accordance with DIN 51524.
• Within the immediate surroundings of the punching unit there should be no ignition sources in use.
Pressure fluids can be flammable.
• The APS punching unit should only be used for its intended purpose.
Deviation from the operation manual of the APS unit, technical changes
or modifications, as well as use of non-original spare parts reduce the level of safety. ALFRA takes
no responsibility for this and waives any guarantee.
Working with the APS Punching Unit
The APS punching unit should only be used by trained and competent personnel. The legal permissible minimum
age must be observed. In principle those personnel being trained, taught or instructed, or those in general
education, must be placed under the constant supervision of experienced personnel. The responsibilities of
personnel for operation, maintenance and repair are clearly defined.
It is to be ensured that only authorized personnel operate the equipment.
Site of operation for the APS punching unit
The site of operation must meet the following requirements to ensure safe, trouble-free operation:
Attention
• For assembly the connecting hydraulic cables are installed so that there are no tripping hazards.
• Do not drive over the hydraulic cables with equipment (forklifts, trucks, etc.).
• For stationary use the punching head must be securely attached to a solid surface.
