Do notuse pressurized air or solventsto cleanthe air cleaner
cartridge.

Removethe air filtercover.
2.
To remove the air filter,liftthe end of the filter.See Figure 27.

Removethe pre-cleanerfromthe filter.
4.
Toloosendebris,gentlytap the filter on a hard surface.If the filter
is excessively dirty, replacewith a newfilter.
5.
Washthe pre-cleanerin liquiddetergentand water.Allowit to
thoroughlyair dry. Do not oil the pre-cleaner.
6.
Assemblethe dry pre-cleanerto thefilter.
7.
Installthefilter into theengine baseand pushdownuntilthe filter
snapsin place.
8.
Installthecover.
Spark
Plug
1.
Cleanarea aroundthe sparkplug base. Donot sandblastspark
plug. Sparkplugshouldbe cleanedby scrapingor wirebrushing
and washingwith a commercialsolvent
2.
Removeand inspectthe sparkplug.Checkgap to make sureit is
set at .030".See Figure28.

Fuel Filter
Gasolineand its vaporsare extremelyflammableand explosive.Fire
or explosioncancause severeburnsor death.
•
Keepgasolineawayfrom sparks,openflames,pilot lights,heat,
and other ignitionsources.
•
Checkfuel lines,tank,cap, and fittings frequentlyfor cracks
or leaks.Replaceif necessary.See a Searsor otherqualified
servicedealerto replacefuel line.
•
Beforereplacingthe fuelfilter,drainthe fuel tankor close the fuel
shut-offvalve.
•
Replacement p artsmust be the sameand installedin the same
positionas the originalparts.
•
If fuel spills,wait untilit evaporatesbeforestartingengine.
To Drainthe Fuel:
1.
Locatethe fuel filter,which is routedon the left sideof the engine
betweenthefuel tank and the carburetor,and maybe attachedto
the enginewith a tie strap.
2.
Cut the tie strap,if present,then pinchthe in-lineclamp on the
fuel filter with a pairof pliers.
3.
Slide the clampup thefuel line.
4.
Removethe in-linefuel line and drain thefuel into an approved
container.
To Replace the Fuel Filter:
1.
Beforereplacingthe fuelfilter,drainthe fuel tankor close the fuel
shut-offvalve.Otherwise,fuelcan leakout and causea fire or
explosion.
