Absolute linear magnetic encoder system
Installation
NOTICE
Interference in function
Improper assembly of the measuring body and sensor
module may impair the function of the linear encoder
system and lead to increased wear or damage to the
system.
► All permissible distance and angle tolerances must
be strictly observed.
► Make sure that the sensor module does not touch
the magnetic tape or the optional cover strip across
the entire measuring range.
► The magnetic encoder system must be installed in
accordance with the indicated degree of protection.
Magnetic fields with ≥ 1 mT reduce the precision of the
system, magnetic fields of ≥ 30 mT destroy the magnetic
tape. The functionality of the system is no longer
ensured.
► Keep external magnetic fields (> 30 mT) away from
the measuring system.
► Avoid direct contact with magnetic retainers or other
permanent magnets!
Alignment of sensor module to measuring body/
magnetic disk
When mounting, make sure that the sensor module is
correctly aligned with the measuring body or the magnetic
disk (for examples, see user's guide).
Distances, angles, tolerances and measurement
accuracy
For optimum measurement behavior, make sure to
maintain the free area of magnetizable material.

Installation options
The sensor module can be mounted in two ways:
– Direct installation via spacers
– Indirect installation via mounting block

► Insert M2 screw through the machine part and screw it
into the spacer.

The mounting instructions apply to linear
applications (magnetic tape) and rotary
applications (magnetic discs).
Mounting example for the sensor module
1. Provide through hole on machine part.
2. Mount the sensor module taking into account the
correct alignment as well as the distances and
tolerances.
3. Secure the screws against unintended loosening
(e.g. with locking paint).
