8. If one piece, cut both hose and flexible conduit to
the following lengths:

9. Using a pliers, install hose clamp (Item 10) about two
inches (50 mm) from end of short hose (Item 9).
10. Slide flexible conduit (Item 11) over short hose until
it contacts clamp.
11. Compress tubing slightly and install second clamp
about two inches (50 mm) from end of hose.
12. Compressing clamp with pliers, install one end of
short hose on top fitting on block heater as shown.
Fasten with hose clamp (Item 10).
13. Connect other end of hose to 1/2 in barbed straight
fitting (Item 8) and fasten with hose clamp (Item 10).

6. Repeat steps 9–11 to assemble long
hose (Items 12 and 14).

15. Install long hose and conduit (Items 12 and 14) on
block heater as shown. Fasten with hose clamp
(Item 10).
16. Compressing clamp with pliers, install one end of
long hose on bottom side fitting on block heater.
17. Remove pipe plug from thermostat housing.
Discard pipe plug.

7. Apply suitable pipe sealant to
threads of 1/2 inch barbed straight fitting (Item 8)
and install in thermostat housing.

19. Compressing clamp with pliers, install free end of
long hose to fitting.
20. Remove 1/2 inch pipe plug from reducer elbow in
coolant passage of engine block. Discard pipe
plug.
NOTE: Have a suitable container on hand as more
coolant will drain when the plug is removed.
