GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
,, Alwaysobservesafetyruleswhen performing
anytype of maintenance.
,, Thewarrantyon this lawnmowerdoesnot coveritemsthat have
beensubjectedto operatorabuseor negligence. T o receivefull
valuefromwarranty,operatormustmaintainthe lawnmoweras
instructedhere.
,, All adjustmentsshouldbe checkedat leastonceeach season.
,, Periodicallycheckall fastenersand makesure theseare tight.
LUBRICATION
Alwaysstop themotorand removekey beforecleaning,lubricating
or performingany repairsor maintenance on the lawnmower.Always
wearsafetyglasses duringoperation or whileperforming anyadjustments
or repairs.
* Lubricatethe wheelsat leastoncea seasonwith light oil (or motor
oil). If wheelsare removedforany reason,lubricatesurfaceof the
pivot armand innersurfaceof thewheelwith lightoil. See Figure9.
,, Lubricatethe torsionspringand pivotpointon the reardischarge
door and side mulchplug periodicallywith lightoil to preventrust.

DECK CARE
The undersideof mowerdeck shouldbe cleanedafter eachuseas
grass clippings,leaves,dirt and otherdebriswill accumulate. T his
accumulation of grassclippings,etc., is undesirableas it will promote
rust andcorrosion.
1. Removeany buildupof grassand leaveson or aroundthe motor
cover (do not usewater).Wipe the mowercleanwith a dry cloth
occasionally.
To reducethe risk of electricshock,do notexposethe mowerto
water. J
2. If debrisis allowedto build up on the undersideof the unit, tilt the
mowerand scrape it cleanwith a suitabletool (makecertain the
key is removed).
REPLACING TRAILING SHIELD
can resultin personalinjury.
The trailingshieldis subjectto wearand damagewhichcouldexpose
movingparts or allowobjectsto be thrown.Forsafety protection,fre-
quentlycheckthe trailingshieldand replaceimmediately with original
equipmentmanufacturer's (OEM)partonly, listed in this manual.
1. To removetrailingshield,lift reardoor,and bend(bow)the trailing
shield inwardon eachside to releasetabs from the holesin the
mowerframe.See Figure10.
2. Replacewith newtrailingshieldby bendingthe shieldto alloweach
tab to fit into holesin mowerframe.
