Motor will not start

Probable Causes
No power to pressure switch due to blown
fuses, open switches, or loose connections
Pump pressure switch is not closed
Pump not completely primed
Suction lift is too great
Foot valve is either not submerged, buried in
mud, or plugged
Air leaks in suction line
Well draws down too far
Faulty foot valve
Leaks in suction or discharge line
Foot valve, suction line, impeller, or nozzle are
partially plugged
Suction lift is greater than recommended
Improper impeller rotation or low speed
Venturi or diffuser is plugged
Motor is wired for improper voltage
Faulty air volume control
Air leaks in tank above the water level
Incorrect setting on the pressure switch
Corrective Action
Check all electrical connections for security.
Check breaker and fuses.
Close pump pressure switch.
Prime pump.
Relocate the pump closer to the water
source.
Inspect foot valve, making sure it is sub-
merged. Clean or replace as needed.
Inspect suction line. Repair or replace as
needed.
Move pump closer to water source.
Inspect foot valve. Clean or replace as
needed.
Inspect the suction and discharge lines. Clean
or replace as needed.
Inspect parts. Clean as needed.
Relocate the pump closer to the water
source.
Ensure proper gauge wire has been used.
Clean as needed.
Check to ensure voltage indicator on pump
matches voltage at power source.
Replace air volume control.
Check fittings. Replace tank.
Adjust setting on pressure switch. Refer to
"Changing the Voltage" on page
4.
