Function
The safety evaluation unit monitors connected sensors that are equipped with
two make contacts. The safety evaluation unit switches its safety output in ac-
cordance with the operating statuses of the connected sensors.
In the following situations the safety evaluation unit switches off the
safety output:
- All sensors are correctly actuated (safety door(s) closed).
In the following situations the safety evaluation unit switches off the
safety output:
- At least one sensor is not actuated (safety door(s) opened).
- A fault is pending (safety evaluation unit or sensor is defective).

Waiting period
The waiting period is the maximum time permitted on a sensor between the
closing of the first contact maker and the closing of the second contact maker.

Installation
Danger of electrocution!
Ensure that the safety evaluation unit is only put into opera-
tion by specially-trained authorized personnel.
Danger
- Installation of the safety evaluation unit is only permitted in a voltage-free state.
- Ensure that the required fuses (see Technical Specifications) are used.
- Snap the safety evaluation unit onto a DIN rail (DIN EN 60715 TH35) in the
switch cabinet. The safety evaluation unit is fixed.
- Connect the safety evaluation unit, see Technical specifications.
- If the sensor input remains free:
Ensure that the make contacts of this sensor input are bypassed.

Electrical connection
- The electrical connection is only permitted in a voltage-free state.
- Ensure that the specifications described in the technical specifications are al-
ways complied with.
Upon connection of a sensor, the (+) and (-) sensor supply voltage must be
used by the terminals stated in the technical specifications.

10 Commissioning

The safety evaluation unit performs an internal test.
Upon successful completion of the test the safety evaluation unit switches
through the safety output.
The safety evaluation unit is ready for operation.
NOTE
Upon initial commissioning of a safety evaluation unit, complete validation ac-
cording to the relevant standards must be carried out.
11 Maintenance
The switching behaviour and sequences of every safety circuit must be in-
spected at least once per year.
12 Troubleshooting
Restoring the device to a state of readiness for operation
If the safety output is switched off due to a fault at the sensors and the corre-
sponding LED sensor flashes:
- Set the faulty safety sensor to its non-actuated status and then actuate it again.
The corresponding LED sensor lights up again.
The safety evaluation unit switches through the safety output.
Safety output remains switched off:
- Replace the sensor.

13 Disposal
Dispose of packaging and used parts in accordance with the regulations of the
country in which the device is installed.
