Wheel bearings are sealed and require no lubrication. If trolley wheel rotation is
rough or noisy, replace trolley wheel bearing.
Geared Trolley Pinion Shaft should be lubricated before installing in side plate
with EP 2 grease.
Geared Trolley Wheels require EP 2 grease Brushed on exposed wheel and
pinion teeth. Apply as necessary to keep teeth covered. If the grease becomes
contaminated clean and brush on new.
7.4 Load Chain
1. Lubricate each link of the load chain weekly with a SAE 50 to 90 EP oil. Apply new
lubricant over existing layer. It is important to a maker sure lubricant gets between
the contact surfaces of the adjoining links to help minimize inner link wear.
2. In severe applications or corrosive environment, lubricate more frequently than
normal.
3. Lubricate hook and hook latch pivot points with the same lubricant used on the load
chain.
4. To remove rust or abrasive dust build-up, clean chain with acid free solvent. After
cleaning, lubricate the chain.
8.0 TROUBLE SHOOTING FOR HOIST
SYMPTOM
Will not ratchet up
but chain can be
pulled through by
hand without load
Will ratchet up but
chain cannot be
pulled through by
hand without load
Hoist will not lift
or lower at no
load
Free chain mode
does not allow
chain to be pulled
freely
MAN-ALLBADGER-19
CAUSE
Operator continues to crank
the lever in the down
direction, when the tail chain
ring is snagged or is stopped
against the hoist frame.
Hoist is relieved of the load
by some other means than
lowering with the hoist, or if
abused by pulling the lower
hook block tightly against the
hoist frame.
Brake is not set
Lever moves without
clicking, chain does not
continue to move in or out
Chain pulled too fast or
accelerated too quickly
causing the brake to set
If a significant load is
attached and lifted the brake
will recover. Or, with no load,
by pulling the chain through
the hoist until the hook is
against the frame, then
cranking the lever in the up
direction.
Turn the directional lever to
the "D" down position and
pull sharply on the lever
handle or re-apply a
sufficient load then crank the
lever down.
See operating and inspection
There must be some
resistance to cause the lever
to ratchet. Hold or pull the
slack chain by hand while
ratcheting the lever. Or use
the free chain mode to easily
position the chain.
Reset the hand wheel (27)
and pull load chain with less
force
