Initial operation
The scales are powered exclusively by solar energy. Any surplus solar energy is stored electronically during
operation and also while the scales are switched off. So even under bad lighting conditions optimal operation
is maintained. After a long period of storage in the dark, it must be ensured that there is adequate light for the
scales to operate (average room lighting). After a few seconds the scales will be ready for use.
Positioning of the scales
Please ensure that the scales are in a horizontal position.
Weighing (ON)
All functions are controlled by a single key ON-OFF-TARE-HOLD. After switching on the scales, all segments
will appear in the display. Please wait until zero appears. Then place the weight onto the scales and read off
the weight.
Net weighing (TARE)
Place an empty container onto the scales and then subtract this weight by pressing the key until zero appears.
Fill the container. Only the additional weight is indicated in the display. After removing the container, the
weight of the container will appear as a negative value.
Freezing of weighing value (HOLD)
The HOLD function serves to freeze the indicated weighing value and is of advantage when weighing large
formats that hide the display. Place the letter or parcel onto the scales. Hold the key for at least 2 sec. As soon
as "HOLD" is shown in the display, release the key. The display will freeze the weighing value. Press the key
again to release the HOLD function.
Switch-off (OFF)
Press the key until zero is indicated in the display. Press the key once more for switch-off. Automatic switch-off
will occur after approx. 4 min. (with or without weight on the scales). The scales will not automatically switch
off while the HOLD function is activated.
Postal rates (15131)
The current postal rates will be shown in the bottom segment of the display by means of a moving arrow. You
can download the actual chart from www.maul.de.
Explanation of the special symbols
1. Switching on
After pressing the operation key all symbols will appear. You can check whether all segments are clearly
shown on the display. Zero indicates that the scales are ready for operation.
2. Negative value
Press the key once again.
3. Overload
Weight exceeds total weighing capacity of scales. Remove weight from scales and switch back to zero.
4. Energy supply
A fl ashing „low" in the display indicates that the stored energy is running low and that the scales should be
placed in a stronger light. If "low" appears without fl ashing, the energy is completely used up and the scales
will switch off at any moment.
5. Storage of weighing value
As long as "HOLD" is shown in the display, the weighing value will continue to be stored. The scales will not
switch off automatically.
This device complies with the requirements of EC Directive 2014/31/EU. Note: Unusual electro-magnetic
infl uences (jammers in the immediate vicinity) may affect the display value. After the end of the interference
period, the product can be used again as intended. These scales cannot be used for offi cial metrology.
