INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND PRECAUTIONS: The KARIBA Parapet Anchorage is a temporary, transportable anchorage system intended
for use in locations where a parapet (or dam) serves as an adequate anchorage structure. It enables access, suspended work, fall arrest and emergency/
evacuation operations during facade work.
It must be installed on a parapet with a minimum thickness of 50 cm and a maximum thickness of 103 cm. It is also suitable for parapets with coping.
The walls must be strong enough to withstand static loads applied in the direction of use of at least 14 kN.
A security perimeter must be set up around the KARIBA's location once installed in order to prevent an unauthorised third party from tampering with it.
The KARIBA anchorage comes with its carrying strap FA 60 045 01. This anchorage lanyard is EN 795:2012 type B certified and can be used to provide
auxiliary anchorage for a user. Its length is adjustable from 0.88 m to 1.30 m and has been tested at 18 kN.
1- Installing the KARIBA:
Unscrew the 2 clamping screws (5) as much as possible and remove the locking pin (3). Install the parapet anchorage point on the wall, press the
stationary jaw (1) against one side of the wall and slide the movable jaw (4) until it comes into contact with the other side. Insert the locking pin (3) into
the nearest holes. Finally, tighten the 2 clamping screws (5) on the wall; the pressure must be firm but not excessive, so hand tightening is sufficient.
Check the stability of the assembly and exert pressure in the direction in which the force will be applied during use to check that the assembly is secure.
Connections between the anchorage points (2) and the fall arrest system must be made via a connector (EN 362) or directly using an appropriate knot.
When in use, regularly check that the connector is closed properly.
It is advisable that the installation of this anchorage point be supervised by a qualified individual.
1.1 Using the KARIBA:
For suspension use of the anchorage point, the maximum angle between the vertical and the user's rope must not exceed 15° (see Figs. 2 and 3, page 4).

Return pulleys
The position of the anchorage points (2) allows the user to be belayed before passing over the parapet. The return pulleys (9) make it possible to cross
the sharp edge without damaging the ropes. In addition, they can be useful when evacuating the user in case of emergency. The KARIBA anchorage is
certified for 2 users. Make sure the anchorage is stable when in use.
The KARIBA has 4 anchorage points intended to be used, for example, as:
• Anchorage point for the work rope on which the user moves along the height of the structure,
• Anchorage point for the user's safety line,
• Anchorage point to belay equipment,
• Anchorage point in case of emergency/evacuation of the user.
WARNING! After running the various ropes over the return pulleys, lock them in position using the securing pin (7). The purpose of this is to eliminate
the risk of the ropes coming out of the pulley housing and unbalancing the anchorage.
1.2 Use of the FA 60 045 01 anchorage strap:
The anchorage strap, in addition to serving as a carrying strap for the KARIBA, can serve as an auxiliary anchorage for a user. The anchorage devices
must not be placed around angle sections of less than 30x30 mm or on larger supports not compatible with the length of the lanyard. Before installing an
anchorage strap, ensure that the anchorage structure is capable of supporting a load up to 12 kN in the direction in which the force is applied.
2- Precautions:
User safety relies on the ongoing effectiveness of the equipment and full understanding of the safety instructions contained in this leaflet.
The readability of the product's markings must be checked regularly.
Make sure that the work is done in such a way as to limit the pendulum effect, as well as the risk and the height of a fall. For safety reasons and before
each use, make sure that in the event of a fall there are no obstacles obstructing the normal deployment of the fall arrest system fixed on this parapet
anchorage point.
