adapter (2.6) with a short piece of hose. When
working with wood or using materials which
produce harmful dusts the electric tool must
be connected to a suitable dust extractor.
Attention: Do not collect metal dust in a dust
extractor which already contains inflammable
dusts (fire risk).
11 Guide
As shown in Fig. 4, the supplied guide can be
secured to all four sides of the machine.
The guide offers the following adjustment
options:
• Adjustment parallel to the bench edge –
open the rotary knob (4.7).
• Adjustment vertical to the bench edge –
open the rotary knob (4.6).
• Adjustment of the sliding fence (4.1) in a
longitudinal direction – open the rotary knob
(4.4). The sliding fence can be clamped
onto the holder in a low position for thin
workpieces (Fig. 5), or in a high position
for thick workpieces (Fig. 4).
• Angle adjustment using the scale (4.5) –
open the rotary knob (4.3) and raise the
fixing pin (4.2). The rotating fixing pin locks
into place in the most common angle posi-
tions. (Note: turning the locating pin blocks
the stop)
Prior to all work, make sure that all ro-
tary knobs of the guide are tightened.
The guide may only be used in a fixed
position and not to shift the workpiece.
12 Replacing spare parts
12.1 Replacing the sanding base
During sanding the rear of the sanding belt
is pressed against the sanding base in the
working area (6.1). This leads to a certain
wear on the sanding base. The sanding
base protects the base plate against wear.
A heavily worn sanding base damages the
sanding belt and can no longer protect the
base plate. The sanding base thus has to be
periodically replaced. Remove the old sand-
ing base from its mounting and affix the new
one in its place.
12.2 Replacing the belt guides
Despite attempts at a careful adjustment of
the belt running a certain shift of the sanding
belt up or down is unavoidable after a time.
A small ceramic plate is attached (6.2) to
the clamping plate as a downward start-up
limiter so that the belt does not damage any
components. It has to be replaced with an
new plate when worn.
13 Maintenance and service
Always disconnect the mains plug from
the socket before carrying out any main-
tenance work.
Keep the ventilation slots in the motor hous-
ing clean and free of obstructions at all times
to ensure an adequate circulation of air.
Any maintenance and repair work requiring
an opening of the motor housing may only
be carried out by an authorised customer
service workshop.
14 Disposal
Do not throw the appliance in your household
waste! Dispose of machines, accessories and
packaging at an environmentally responsible
recycling centre. Observe the valid national
regulations.
Only for EU countries: In accordance with
European Directive 2002/96/EC on waste
electrical and electronic equipment and imple-
mentation in national law, used electric power
tools must be collected separately and handed
in for environmentally friendly recycling.
15 Warranty
Our equipment is under warranty for at least
12 months with regard to material or pro-
duction faults in accordance with national
legislation. In the EU countries, the warranty
period is 24 months (an invoice or delivery
note is required as proof of purchase). Dam-
age resulting from, in particular, normal wear
and tear, o-verloading, improper handling, or
caused by the user or other damage caused
by not following the operating instructions,
or any fault acknowledged at the time of
purchase, is not covered by the warranty.
Damage caused by the use of non-original
accessories and consumable material (e.g.
sanding pads) is also excluded.
Complaints will only be acknowledged if the
equipment has not been dismantled before
being sent back to the suppliers or to an au-
thorised Festool customer support workshop.
Store the operating instructions, safety notes,
spare parts list and proof of purchase in a safe
place. In addition, the manufacturer's current
warranty conditions apply.
