SKYLOTEC equipment and components to protect against falls
from heights match or exceed applicable European, American or
other international standards. Please read these instructions
carefully before using the product. The activities for which this
equipment is used are, by their very nature, dangerous. This
equipment should therefore only be used by someone who is
competent and who has been specially trained in how to use it. The
user accepts all responsibility for the fact that he has been fully
instructed in the correct use of this equipment, has read these
instructions, will use the equipment only in accordance with its
intended purpose and will take all required safety precautions. A
risk assessment must always be carried out before every use, and
a rescue plan for work at heights must be submitted. The
manufacturer or dealer cannot be held liable for any damage, injury
or fatalities that occur following the incorrect use of this product.
Always check the compatibility of all of the components of a safety
system with each other, and ensure the safe functioning of the
system. If you are unsure about how to use the product, contact a
suitably trainer person or contact the manufacturer. When a
complete system is supplied, individual components of the
complete system must not be replaced. The devices must not be
opened. Only SKYLOTEC and its service partners, as well as
people trained specially by SKYLOTEC (level 2), may open the
device and replace the system's components.
Retractable fall arresters
Retractable fall arresters (HSG) are part of a fall arrest system
including an anchor point and a harness complying with EN 361
(see Fig. 2.1) and are used exclusively to protect persons who are
exposed to the danger of a fall during their work (e.g. on ladders,
roofs, scaffolding, etc.). During the ascent or descent, the user can
move around freely. The spring ensures that the rope/webbing is
fed independently into the device. In the event of a fall or a
backwards movement, the device locks. Fall arrester devices limit
the energy produced during a fall to such an extent that the body
can withstand this energy. A risk assessment must be carried out
before every use / any work involving the device.
A device damaged and/or stressed as a result of a fall (display on
the device shows red or fall indicator in the carabiner has tripped),
