2.4. Safety Instructions
Technical status
■ Inspect the half mask for damage every time before it is used.
■ Never start using the half mask when damaged or when parts are
missing.
■ Never make any unauthorised modifications or technical changes to the
half mask.
Cleaning
■ Never use acidic or alkaline cleaning agents to clean the half mask.
■ Never use cleaning agents based on halogenated hydrocarbons.
Point of use
■ The use of oxygen or oxygen-enriched air is not permitted.
■ The water content in the breathing air must remain within the limits of
EN 12021 to prevent the unit from freezing up.
■ The use of gas filters with designation A1 against low boilers < 65 °C is
not allowed (also applies to combination filters, e.g. A2 P3 R D; colour
code: brown white).
■ The half mask must not be used in situations where flammability can
pose a hazard.
■ The half mask may only be used when the air is composed of low
gaseous or vaporous pollutant concentration levels of 0.1 vol. % with A1
filters and of 0.5 vol. % with A2 filters.
■ The half mask may be used for dust up to 4 times the MWC limit with
P1 filters, up to 10 times the MWC limit with P2 filters and up to 30
times the MWC limit with P3 filters.
■ The half mask may only be used in rooms where the air contains mini-
mum 17 vol. % and maximum 23.5 vol. % oxygen.
■ The half mask may not be used in closed areas such as tanks, pipe-
lines, trenches and channels.
■ The half mask may not be used against carbon oxide gases (CO).
■ The half mask may not be used when the type and properties of the
pollutants are not known or when the pollutants pose a direct hazard to
life and health.
