Setup
The unit is designed for insertion into a rack
(482 mm /19"), but it can also be used as table
top unit . For rack installation, two rack spaces are
necessary (1 rack space = 44 .5 mm) .
5
Installing an Insertion
1) Prior to installing the insertion, disconnect the
mains plug of the PA-1200EX from the mains
socket .
2) Screw off the corresponding cover panel
(1 and / or 2) for the insertion compartment .
The three-pole connection cable for the
insertion module is fastened to the cover panel .
Remove the cable and connect it to the cor-
responding pin housing of the module (see
operating instructions of the module) .
3) Install the insertion and tighten it with screws .
4) For all further installation steps refer to the
operating instructions of the insertion used .

Connections
All connections should only be made by qualified,
skilled personnel and under any circumstances
with the unit switched off .
6.1 Connection to an amplifier
There are two possible ways to connect the unit
to an amplifier:
1 . Connect the outputs PACK 1 (11) and PACK
2 (10) separately to one line input each of the
amplifier (e . g . input for CD player, tape re-
corder) . Use the volume controls of the inser-
tions to adjust the de sired volume .
2 . To feed the mixed signal of both insertions to
the amplifier, connect the output "1 + 2" (9)
to a line input of the amplifier . Use the volume

controls of the insertions to adjust the desired
volume and the mixing ratio or fade the signals
in and out .
6.2 Power supply and
emergency power supply
1) To ensure continued operation of the amplifier
after a mains failure, connect a 24 V emer-
gency power supply unit (e . g . PA-24ESP from
MONACOR) to the terminals 24 V⎓ (8) .
Note: If the 24 V voltage from the emergency power
unit is available at the terminals 24 V⎓ , the amplifier
cannot be switched off with the switch POWER (4) .
In case of a mains failure or if it is switched off, the
amplifier is automatically switched to the emergency
power supply .
2) Finally connect the supplied mains cable to the
mains jack (5) first and then to a mains socket
(230 V/ 50 Hz) .
