Switching off: Press the back, lifted end of switch
(7) and release it to return in its initial position.
ELECTRONIC SPEED PRE-SELECTION
The rotation speed can be varied smoothly by
turning the electronic regulator (8), positioned
on the rear of the sander.
Model SMA 728E features full-wave tachocon-
stant electronics for:
- Soft start and restriction of the starting cur-
rent;
- Speed pre-selection and control;
- Non-self-starting safety (NVR) after restoring
the mains supply. To resume operation release
the ON/OFF switch and then press it again.
The recommended regulator positions for the
different areas of applications are specified in
the table below:

1. Sanding wood and removing lacquer
and dye coatings with sandpaper
2. Sanding metal with sandpaper
or felt wheel
3. Polishing and operating a foam pad
SELECTING THE ACCESSORY AND
PREPARATION fOR OPERATION
The choice of the accessory depends on the in-
tended operation. Generally the operations you
are allowed to perform are:
- Sanding with sandpaper;
- Sanding with felt wheel;
- Polishing with a foam pad.
USING THE OPERATING TOOL
The selection of sandpaper depends on the de-
sired surface quality. For rough operations use
sandpaper with larger grit size, and for fine and
finishing operations use sandpaper with smaller
grit size to achieve surface smoothness.
Use only hook-and-loop sanding accessories
(Velcro type).
Do not use sanding accessories with diameter
exceeding the maximum diameter permitted for
this power tool.
MOUNTING THE OPERATING TOOL
The precise and accurate performance of the
below described procedures guarantees the re-

liable and safe operation with the power tool.
1. Ensure that the power tool is unplugged.
2. Turn the machine in a way ensuring ac-
cess to the operating tool. We recommend fixing
the machine in stationary position. Thus it would
be possible to use both hands for convenient
and safe assembly.
3. Mount the selected operating tool ensur-
ing its coaxial positioning.
4. Press frontally the selected operating tool
(1) to the pad (2) to ensure maximum cohesion
of the hook-and-loop surfaces (Velcro type).
5. Turn the machine with the sandpaper fac-
ing downward.
6. Plug in the power tool.
7. Slide the ON/OFF switch (7) forward to
start the machine.
8. Let the machine operate at no load for ap-
proximately one minute not allowing the sanding
head (6) to contact any surface.
9. At the event of increased vibrations or oth-
er symptoms not typical for operation, stop the

machine immediately and search for the reason.

REPLACING THE OPERATING TOOL
1. Ensure that the power tool is unplugged.

3. Remove the clogged operating tool.
4. Follow steps 3 - 10 described in section
"Mounting the operating tool".
MOUNTING AND DISMOUNTING THE
AUXILIARY HANDLE
1. Ensure that the power tool is unplugged.
2. Mounting and dismounting the auxiliary han-
dle (15) is performed by screwing and unscrew-
ing the screws (16). Place washer (19) under
screw (16).
REPLACING THE TOOTH BELT
1. Ensure that the power tool is unplugged.
2. Unwind the four screws (11) in order to re-
move the pad (2) together with the driven belt
pulley (14).
