Detection sensitivity

7.4.1

Standard fire

Detection sensitivity is the maximum distance at which the flame
detector reliably detects a specific size of fire and typical type of fuel
(standard fire). The standard fire is defined as a 0.1 m
heptane pan fire, with maximum wind speed of 2 m/s (6.5 ft./sec).
For each sensitivity level there are 2 response levels:
Warning
Alarm

The detection distance for the alarm level from a standard fire is as
follows:
Flame detector
Dräger Flame 2100
Dräger Flame 2350
Dräger Flame 2370
The detection distance at which a warning is issued is approximately
10% longer than the detection distance for an alarm.
For some typical ambient conditions, the Zeta parameter as defined in
NFPA 72 for the flame detector is 0.005 (1/meter).
Note: Zeta parameters may vary significantly with changes in
temperature, air pressure, humidity, visibility conditions, and so on.
For information on the immunity to false alarm sources, please refer to
the Technical Manual.
