Equipment and safety
devices
The equipment, installation and operation of
hydraulic accumulators are subject to different
regulations in different countries.
In the Federal Republic of Germany, for
example, they are regulated by the "Industrial
Safety Regulation" (BetrSichV) or EN 14359.
These require the following minimum
equipment:
– Shut-off device,
– Device which protects against excessive
pressure(must be type-tested, either using a
prototype or through individual expert
assessment),
– Pressure release device between the
hydraulic accumulator and the shut-off
device,
– Pressure measurement device marked with
the maximum permitted operating pressure,
– Connection point for a test pressure gauge.
The following can also be fitted:
– Safety device for excess temperature,
– Solenoid-operated unloading valve.
For further safety information and relevant
equipment (accessories), please refer to the
following brochures:
"Safety Equipment for Hydraulic Accumulators"
No. 3.552,
Charging and Testing Unit FPU"
No. 3.501 and
"Safety and Shut-off Block SAF/DSV"
No. 3.551.
NOTE
Before mounting permanently attached
adapters on the gas side of a piston
accumulator, the allen screw (210) must be
removed.
3. Transport and storage
Transport
The transport of gas-charged accumulators
must be carried out with the utmost care and in
compliance with all relevant transport safety
regulations (e.g. in the public domain,
dangerous goods regulations, etc.).
Only appropriate load carrying equipment must
be used for transport and handling, e.g.
magnets for rounded objects, or hemp rope or
transport strapping.
NOTE
Do not use chains.
Do not use steel cables.
DANGER
Any piston accumulator which has been
damaged during transport must not be put
into operation.
Storage
When supplied, HYDAC piston accumulators
are suitable for short-term storage. If the
storage conditions are dry, cool and protected
from direct sunlight, this period can be
extended to up to 6 months.
For storage periods longer than one year, the
hydraulic accumulator must be given a
long-term perservative.
The accumulator can be stored in any position.
To prevent dirt from entering the accumulator, it
must be ensured that the hydraulic connections
are sealed off.
