Using the parking aid

The sensors are activated automatically when you engage the reverse gear
with the ignition on or the engine running. An activation signal sounds (two
short beeps).
As soon as there is an obstacle within the detection range, a repeated signal
tone sounds and the warning LED on the loudspeaker flashes.
As you reverse, the sequence of beeps changes according to the zone the
obstacle is in, thus indicating the distance (chapter "Performing a functional
test" on page 48).
Be very careful the first time you use the system, until you are familiar with
the various sequences of beeps.
Caution!
Stop the vehicle immediately and investigate the situation (getting
out if necessary), if the following happens while you are manoeu-
vring:
The device first shows an obstacle while you manoeuvre, and the
beeps speed up as normal (e.g. from slow to medium). Suddenly
the beeping sound slows down, or no obstacle is shown at all.
This means that the original obstacle is in the blind spot of the sen-
sors (construction-related characteristic), and it is possible to hit it.
