Fitting the parking aid

6.1
Fitting the sensors
Caution!
When fitting the sensors, make sure there are no objects fixed to
the vehicle (such as a bicycle rack) that are in the detection range
of the sensors.
Caution!
If you do not wish to fit the sensors on metal bumpers, you require
suitable adapters (item no. MWSE-RL, not part of the scope of
delivery).
Note
The sensors must be correctly aligned for the device to work prop-
erly.
If these point to the ground, irregularities and bumps on the surface
may be interpreted as obstacles. If they point too far up, obstacles
will not be detected at all.
Note the following information during installation:
Decide which way you want to fit the device:
– Stick on the sensor holder from behind (using a standard sensor hold-
er, fig. f, page 8) or
– Plug in the sensor holder from the front (using a sensor holder with
cover ring, fig. g, page 8)
Select the appropriate sensor holder, with angle compensation to
account for inclinations on the bumper.
The sensor cables have different lengths and are colour-coded. Fit the
sensor with the shortest cable nearest to the control electronics.
The distance from the sensors to the ground should be between 40 cm
and a maximum of 60 cm (fig. a , fig. b, page 6 and fig. c, page 7).
Note that the installation angle depends on the installation height (fig. a ,
fig. b, page 6 and fig. c, page 7).
The installation location should be flat.
