CAUTION!
Risk of injury!
If you do not intend to reuse the old grips, you can simply cut
them lengthwise with a carpet knife. Be particularly careful on
the throttle side, because the throttle tube under the rubber grip
is usually made of thin plastic and can easily be damaged.

4.3 | Installation

To make the grips easier to slide onto the handlebar, you can use one of the
following methods:
- Warm up the grips (e.g. with a hairdryer, but do not use a hot-air gun) to make
the rubber more flexible.
- Soak the grips in a bowl of hot water with a little dishwashing liquid for a few
minutes. But it will then take quite a long time for the grips to dry out and return
to their normal stiffness (at least 24 hours).
- Lubricate the inside of the grips lightly with brake cleaner. It will evaporate
away quite quickly. But, as already mentioned, brake cleaner is not suitable for
sponge or foam rubber grips.
You can use a 2-component special adhesive from the Louis range if
you want to make sure the grips are permanently secure. If you do this,
however, it will not be possible to re-use the grips if you remove them
at a later date.
Then re-install the lever housings on the handlebar plus the bar ends, if you
have these, or fit the sealing plugs supplied with the grips . Before riding your
motorcycle, check again that the grips are firmly seated on the handlebar and
the throttle twistgrip can rotate freely and springs back automatically when you
release it. Otherwise, the instruments and/or the bar end may have to be moved
slightly.

5 | Storage

Until they are installed, the grips should be stored in their original packaging in a
closed and dark room that is protected against the weather and moisture.
