4.1 | Preparation

The chain and sprocket kits we supply conform to the German vehicle
homologation of the OEMs (original equipment manufacturers). Foreign
models and grey imports may deviate from these specifications. Also, different
components may occasionally be used within the same year of manufacture.
The year of first registration is not always the same as the year of manufacture.
It is therefore essential to first check that the number of teeth and the
securing of the front and rear sprockets are the same as the old part on
your motorbike.
Make a note of the installation position (which side faces forwards and which
backwards). To be on the safe side, mark the installation position on the new
parts before the old parts are removed.
Do not start with installation of the new chain and sprocket kit until you are
certain that the chain and sprocket kit contains the right components for the
respective motorcycle.
Jack up the vehicle securely with the centre stand or a motorcycle rear paddock
stand.

4.2 | Removal

IMPORTANT!
Risk of damage!
• Only install or remove a chain and sprocket kit yourself if you
have the necessary technical knowledge.
• Otherwise it is imperative that you contact a motorcycle
workshop. Consult a workshop manual, which provides
detailed information, illustrations and thread torques for the
respective vehicle model.
Removing front and rear sprockets
To get at the front sprocket, you may first need to remove the footrest, gearshift
(note position!), an engine cover or sprocket cover. When you lift off the cover,
watch out for a possible clutch actuator – try not to disengage it if possible.
To secure the motorbike, put it in first gear and engage the rear brake (get your
helper to operate the brake) so that you can release the sprocket. There are
various types of sprocket fixture (central nut with tab washer, central bolt with tab
washer, mounting plate with two smaller bolts). First remove the locking device as
necessary (e.g. bend open tab washer), before loosening the fastening bolt or nut
for the sprocket using a suitable socket ratchet wrench and a spot of elbow grease.
