Switching on and off

Before switching on, make sure that
the cutter is freely movable and that
the retractable lower guard is closed.
Lead the mains cable away from the
machine to the rear.
Hold the machine securely by the
two handles.
Do not switch on the machine if the
cutter is touching the workpiece.
• Switching on: To switch on the machine, hold
down starting lock-off button 4 (Fig. 2) and press
switch 3. Since this is not a latching switch, the
machine runs only as long as the switch is
pressed down.
• Switching off: To switch off, release switch 3.
The starting lock-off button prevents the machine
from being switched on accidentally.
Switch-on operations generate tran-
sient voltage drops. In the case of
unfavourable mains conditions, other
devices may be impaired. With mains
impedance values less than 0.24 ohm,
failures are not probable to occur.
4.3

Motor protection

The built-in motor protection in handle 1 (Fig. 2)
automatically breaks the circuit in case of overload,
the motor comes to a standstill. Do not press switch
3 any longer in case of motor overload! Press motor
protection switch 15 after a waiting period of approx.
1 minute. Switch on the machine again and go on
working. If the motor protection reacts again, wait a
little bit longer. Do not attempt to force work on by
pressing the motor protection switch several times.
Causes for overload: e.g. too strong working pres-
sure, blunt knives. Pay attention to these facts when
work is continued.
4.4
Adjusting cutting depth
The cutting depth may be adjusted from 0 – 32 mm
(0 – 1 1/4 in.) after the wing screw 8 (Fig. 2) has
been loosened. Once the desired cutting depth has
been set, tighten wing screw 8 again to lock the
machine at the desired depth setting.
4.5
Adjusting for bevel cuts
For making bevel cuts, the angle between the cutter
and the base plate 14 (Fig. 2) can be set from 0 to
45°.
• To adjust the saw assembly for bevel cuts, adjust
the machine to its basic setting and slacken off
wing screw 7 (Fig. 3).
• Adjust the assembly to the desired angle marked
on the scale on the segment for tilting 12.
• Then retighten wing screw 7.
4.6
Cutting to markings
It is very important to observe the
instructions with regard to cutting
contained in the chapter „Safety
instructions"!
The base plate 14 (Fig. 2) has two tracing edges 6
(Fig. 1) for vertical and bevel cuts of 45°. The trac-
ing edges correspond to the inside of the cutter.
• To make the cut, place the front part of the base
plate on the workpiece, switch on the machine
and feed it uniformly in the cutting direction.
4.7
Cutting with parallel guide fence
It is very important to observe the
instructions with regard to cutting
contained in the chapter „Safety
instructions"!
The parallel guide fence is used when cutting paral-
lel to an existing edge with a cutting width range up
to 155 mm (6 1/8 in.). The guide fence can be
attached to the left or right of the machine.
• To adjust the cutting width, release wing screws
16 (Fig. 1) and move the fence accordingly. Then
retighten wing screws 16.
The parallel guide fence can also be used as an
extended support, providing improved guidance of
the groove-cutting machine. To do so, simply turn it
over (guide surface for the workpiece edge faces
up).
