Note: Check the power tool for possible damage.
Before continuing to use the power tool, carefully check that
all protective devices or slightly damaged parts are working
perfectly and according to specifications. Check that the
moving parts are working perfectly and without jamming;
check whether any parts are damaged. All parts must be fit-
ted correctly and all the conditions necessary to ensure
smooth operation must be met.
If the protective devices or any parts become damaged, you
must have them properly repaired or replaced by an author-
ised service centre.

Initial Start-up

– Carefully remove all parts included in the delivery from
their packaging.
– Remove all packing material from the power tool and the
accessories provided.

Mounting the Stops

Mounting the universal guide (see figure A)
– Insert the rail (23) for the universal guide (2) into the de-
sired guide groove (24) or (25) of the saw table.
– To lock the universal guide in the middle guide groove
(25) or in the guide groove (24), tighten the clamping
lever (1) clockwise.
To change the position of the clamping lever (1), pull the
clamping lever up and turn it until it reaches the desired
position.
– To lock the universal guide in the guide groove (24),
tighten the knurled screw (19), if the workpiece projects
over the saw table.
Mounting the additional stop (see figure B)
To make it easier to position long workpieces for rip cuts, the
additional stop (21) can be mounted on the universal guide
(2).
– To remove the additional stop (21) from the holder under
the saw table, press the release button (26) and pull out
the stop to the rear.
– Push the additional stop (21) together with the two wing
bolts (27) from above into the grooves of the universal
guide (2) until the additional stop is lying on the saw
table.
– Tighten the two wing bolts (27) by turning them clock-
wise.
Note: Ensure that the additional stop is positioned fully on
the saw table.

Stationary or Flexible Mounting

To ensure safe handling, the power tool must be
u
mounted on a flat, stable work surface (e.g. work
bench) before use.
Mounting on a work surface (see figure C)
– Use suitable screw fasteners to secure the power tool to
the work surface. Use the holes (6) to do this.
Mounting on a Bosch saw stand (see figure D)
Thanks to their height-adjustable legs, Bosch saw stands
(e. g. PTA 2400) provide firm support for the power tool on
any surface.
– Use a suitable screwed connection to secure the power
tool to the saw stand.
Read all the warnings and instructions included with
u
the saw stand. Failure to observe the warnings and fol-
low instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or
serious injury.
Assemble the saw stand properly before mounting the
u
power tool. Correct assembly is important to prevent the
risk of collapsing.

Dust/chip extraction

The dust from materials such as lead paint, some types of
wood, minerals and metal can be harmful to human health.
Touching or breathing in this dust can trigger allergic reac-
tions and/or cause respiratory illnesses in the user or in
people in the near vicinity.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are classified as
carcinogenic, especially in conjunction with wood treatment
additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials contain-
ing asbestos may only be machined by specialists.
– Use a dust extraction system that is suitable for the ma-
terial wherever possible.
– Provide good ventilation at the workplace.
– It is advisable to wear a P2 filter class breathing mask.
The regulations on the material being machined that apply in
the country of use must be observed.
Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
u
easily ignite.
The dust/chip extraction system can be blocked by dust,
chips or fragments of the workpiece.
– Switch the power tool off and pull the mains plug out of
the socket.
– Wait until the saw blade has come to a complete stop.
– Determine the cause of the blockage and eliminate it.
External dust extraction (see figure E)
– Connect the dust extraction hose to the extraction outlet
(22).
The dust extractor must be suitable for the material being
worked.
When extracting dry dust or dust that is especially detri-
mental to health or carcinogenic, use a special dust ex-
tractor.
