SHORTWAVE BROADCAST RECEPTION
Shortwave enables listening to broadcasts over vast distances including
other countries and continents. The following information will help you get
the best results. Select appropriate SW meterbands with the METERBAND
button.
• During the day, frequencies above 11000 KHz are usually best.
• At night, frequencies below 13000 KHz are usually best.
• Around sunset and sunrise, the entire shortwave range may be good.
• Getting very close to a window and holding the radio improves shortwave
reception.
TUNING SSB (SINGLE SIDEBAND)
SSB enables listening to shortwave two-way communications using the
single-sideband mode, such as amateur radio, Morse code, weather-fax
transmissions and other signals often referred to as 'utility' signals. The
Internet and your local library are great resources to learn more.
Turn on the G6. Tune to the shortwave frequency of your choice, using the

methods described. To use SSB, turn on the SSB circuit by pressing the SSB
button. Note that SSB appears in the display. Use the tuning knob to FAST-
tune the SSB signal, then SLOW-tune with the tuning knob. Press the JOG
button to change from 'Fast' to 'Slow' tuning. The SSB circuit allows tuning
of both upper and lower sideband signals.

STORING STATIONS INTO MEMORY

The G6 has 700 memories (also called presets), arranged in 100 pages
(page 00-99), with each page holding 7 memories. Buttons #1-7 represent
memory locations. All memories are randomly programmable, meaning that
any kind of frequency can be stored into any memory. SSB selection is not
stored.
Note that when storing into an already occupied memory position, its
contents will be replaced with your new entry.
1. Turn on the G6.
2. Tune to the desired station.
3. Press the PAGE/TIME button to place the G6 into MEMO mode.
4. To select the desired memory page (00-99) use the AUTO
5. Store the station by pressing one of the #1-7 buttons for about 2 sec-
onds or until the square around the memory location in the LCD blinks.
6. To store another station, get out of memo mode by pressing PAGE/TIME
and tune to the station; then repeat the steps above.
7. When finished storing stations, press the PAGE/TIME button to exit
MEMO mode.
