Transfer Stand Assist
Thank you for purchasing an Invacare®sling.
The following user's guide must be read and adhered to, or the warranty may be void.
Please check your sling on delivery – if the sling is not in perfect condition, please contact your
supplier.
The Invacare®Transfer Stand Assist sling used in conjunction with a standing hoist can provide
an excellent transfer solution when the need just is a transfer from one sitting position to
another.
The Invacare®Transfer Stand Assist sling is suitable for clients with a significant trunk and head
control and with an adequate arm and hand dexterity to hold the necessary bar of the hoist to
stabilise themselves during the lift.
Sling application – Sitting in chair, wheelchair or bedside
Lean the client forward ensuring that they are well supported to reduce the risk of falling and
to promote feelings of security.
Slide the sling down behind the back of the client in a central position aligned with the base of
the spine. Sit the client back against the sling. Picture 1.
Pull the leg support at the sling under each thigh of the client until the leg support reach
completely around the thighs of the client. Picture 2.
Do not raise the client to a full standing position using the transfer sling, otherwise
injury can occur.
Attach loops to the bar
Determine the best attachment point for the transfer sling according to the height of the client.
At a tall client the attachment point should be closest to the client and visa verse.
Note: The colour coded straps can be used to place the client in various positions.
The colour makes it easy to connect both sides equally.
The top and bottom colour code do not have to be the same.
Attach the transfer sling to the attachment points:
Pull the thigh support forward and attach to the lower attachment points just above the
pivoting kneepad. Picture 3.
The top (shoulder) straps are wrapped around the outside of each lift arm. Picture 4.
Use the closest colour coded strap to the client that maintains stability and comfort.
The colour coded strap sits flush against the attachment knob.
The same colour coded point is used on each lift arm.
Always use the same colour code on each side of the transfer sling.
