Attention!
Only the 501S41=M6x16 Countersunk Head Screws provid-
ed may be used for screwing the 4R101 Sliding Adapter to the
4R37/4R51/4R77 Socket Adapters.
When mounting the 4 countersunk head screws, tighten the screws
in the following order:
1. Tighten both countersunk head screws on the displacement
side with controlled torque to 12 Nm.
2. Afterwards, tighten the two countersunk head screws on the
opposite side with controlled torque 12 Nm.
Make sure that the screws are screwed to minimum thread depth
of 8 mm to avoid stress fractures!
Using a 710D1 Torque Wrench.
For adjustment loosen the center screw by maximal turning of 1–1½, using
a 4 mm wrench. Sliding is independently adjustable in the frontal plane (me-
dial/lateral) and in the sagittal plane (anterior/posterior). The slide range of
± 11 mm is indicated on the scale (fig. 2). Using a 2 mm wrench, secure the
desired adjustment by tightening the two clamping screws (fig. 3). The four
clamping screws and the center screw must also be tightened (fig. 4) to se-
cure the upper and lower sections on the dovetail guides of the cross support.
For extended periods of trial walking or if the adapter is to remain in the de-
finitive prosthesis, use a 710D1 Torque Wrench or equal to tighten the center
screw to a torque moment of 7 Nm (5.2 ft./lb. or 62 in./lb.).
Attention!
Do not use the Sliding Adapter without center screw.
4.2 Maintenance Instructions
Note:
As a basic principle, all Otto Bock modular adapters are subjected to tests
involving three million load cycles. Depending on the amputee's activity
this corresponds to a service life of three to five years.
We recommend carrying out regular safety checks once a year.
