SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Read these instructions carefully. Safeguard them for
future reference. Inobservance of these instructions may
lead to an accident.
• Before plugging the coffee maker into the mains supply,
check that the voltage corresponds with that stated on the
characteristics plate. It is compulsory an earthed socket.
• The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of
an external timer or separate remote-control system.
• Place the coffee maker on a flat surface, away from
the edge of the work surface to prevent it from falling
accidentally.
• The glass jug is designed to be used with this coffee
maker. It must not be used on cooker hobs or in micro-
wave ovens. Never place the hot jug on a cold or damp
surface. Never pour cold water into the jug while it is still
hot. Do not use the jug if it is cracked or if the handle has
come loose.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible
for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the appliance.
• Do not touch the hot surfaces. Use the handle or the
switch.
• Don't immerse the appliance, the plug or power cord in
water.
• Always remove the plug from the socket whenever the
device is not in use, when attaching accessory parts,
cleaning the device or whenever a disturbance occurs.
Leave it to cool down before putting it away or removing
pieces and before cleaning the appliance.
• To switch the coffee maker off, put the ON/OFF switch to
"0" position and unplug the appliance.
• Do not use outdoors. Only for household.
• Do not let the cable hang over the edge of the table or
work-top, nor let it come into contact with hot surfaces.
• Do not switch the appliance on if the cable or the plug is
damaged or if it can be detected that the appliance is not
working correctly.
• WARNING: Do not remove the lid while the appliance is
operating.
• WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock,
never remove any of the covers. There are no user
serviceable parts on the inside. Cable repairs and
replacements must be carried out exclusively by an
Authorized Technical Service Centre.
• This appliance has been designed exclusively for
domestic use. For indoor use only.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or by its authorized technical service in order
to avoid hazard.
USE
Before using it for the first time rinse all of the accessories
and operate it once without coffee.
1. Use glass jug to fill the tank with cold water (Fig. 1). The
amount of water is showed on glass jug. A quantity of less
than two cups is not recommended.
2. Place the detachable filter seat and the permanent filter
into the filter holder. Put in one tablespoonful of coffee for
each cup of water (Fig. 3).
Important: handle must be used every time in order to
place detachable filter seat correctly. (Fig. 2)
Note:
• This coffee maker can be used with the permanent filter
or with nº 1x4 / 1x2 paper filters. (nº 1x2--->CG7213;
nº 1x4--->CG7223)
• For a correct operation, do not use a too finely ground
coffee.
3. Place the jug, fitted with its lid, on the non-stick heating
plate, plug the coffee maker into the mains and switch it
on (Fig. 4).
DRIP-STOP VALVE
A cup of coffee can be served before the brew cycle has
finished. Whenever the jug is removed from the non-stick
heating plate, the drip feed will be temporarily detained.
Place the jug back on the hot plate within 20 seconds
(Fig. 5).
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Make sure that the coffee maker is unplugged and cold
before attempting to clean it. After daily use wash the
removable parts with soapy water and wipe down the
outside of the coffee maker with a soft and damp cloth. Do
not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads.
Dry the appliance thoroughly after cleaning.
DESCALING
Descale your coffee maker whenever you begin to notice
excessive steaming or the brewing time increases. It is
advisable to descale it every two months.
1. Place the empty jug on the non-stick heating plate.
2. Dilute three cups of vinegar in seven cups of water and
fill the tank with the mixture.
3. Switch the coffee maker on for one minute. Switch it off
and let it stand for half an hour.
4. Switch the coffee maker back on and let all the vinegar
blend flow through all the internal circuit. Pour the solution
with all the rests out and clean out the jug.
5. To flush out any traces of vinegar, run the coffee maker
through two more cycles but using only water.
ADVICE ON DISPOSAL:
Our goods come in optimized packaging. This
basically consists in using non-contaminating
materials which should be handed over to the local waste
disposal service as secondary raw materials.
Before throwing a used appliance away, you should first
make it noticeably inoperable and be certain to dispose
of it in accordance with current national laws. Your
Retailer, Town Hall or Local Council can give you detailed
information about this.
This appliance is labeled in accordance with
European Directive 2002/96/EC – concerning
used electrical and electronic appliances (waste
electrical and electronic equipment – WEEE).
This product must not be disposed together with
the domestic waste. This product has to be disposed at an
authorized place for recycling of electrical and electronic
appliances. The guideline determines the framework for
the return and recycling of used appliances as applicable
throughout the EU. Please ask your dealer about current
means of disposal.
