2 - Remove the upper drain cap (see fig. 3.A) and slightly unscrew the by-pass valve (see fig. 3.B) in order to let
the two internal chambers of the pump communicate and ease filling. Do not completely remove the by-pass valve;
unscrew it 3 or 4 turns during the filling phase. It is removed only and exclusively to empty the pump.
3 - Fill the pump as shown in figure 3.C until the fluid comes out from the upper drain cap.
4 - Carefully close the cap again.
5 - Check the motor rotation direction as indicated on the pump.
6 - Start the pump and check that rotation is in the correct direction.
7 - Open the gate valve slowly on the discharge side until completely open.

MAINTENANCE

Before any intervention on the pump, make sure that power supply has been disconnected and cannot be
restored accidentally during maintenance.
The bearings of the pump and the mechanical seal do not require maintenance. If the pump is emptied for a long
period of standstill, remove one of the coupling covers and lightly grease the shaft between the head of the pump
and the motor with silicone oil in order to avoid gluing of the mechanical seal.
Motors bearings are located and are part of the motor. For motors without a grease zerk fitting: the bearings are
factory sealed and do not require maintenance. Refer to the motor manufacturer's instructions for motors provided
with grease zerk fittings for proper lubrication information.
To protect the pump against frost, empty it completely removing the upper drain cap (see fig. 3.A) and extracting
the by-pass valve (see fig. 3.B) completely in order to let all of the liquid drain out of the pump. Let the pump remain
without caps once it has been emptied. Follow the correct start-up procedures when the pump is to be put back
into service.
