In suitable places, fasten all wires to the existing electric installation of the ve-
hicle with fastening tapes in such a way that they might not be damaged and no
noises may be heard during the drive.
If it is not possible to fasten the wires to the existing electric installation of the
vehicle, glue them with suitable foam adhesive tapes (N, P) to the bodywork
(Figs. 10a, 10b, 12a, 12b). Connect the fitted terminal board (B) to the park dis-
tance control harness terminal board, and slide the set into the acoustic protec-
tion together with the rear lights terminal board (Figs. 13a, 13b).
After finishing the fitting, re-fit all removed parts to their places according to the
Workshop Manual. Connect the car battery and carry out all operations related
with the disconnection and re-connection of the car battery. Test the function
of the sensors.
Advice
If there occurs an irregular false indication of an obstacle, it can be due to frost in the
sensors. Clean the sensors (not with pressure water).
Should there sound a special warning tone after the introductory tune immediately,
one of the sensors has been disconnected or damaged. The number of the faulty sen-
sor is indicated by the number of short beeps following after the warning tone:
1 beep
2 beeps
3 beeps
4 beeps
Spare sensors can be ordered under the ordering numbers:
BEA 700 001 01 – central sensors
BEA 700 001 02 – edge sensors
Warning
The capacity of the system to detect obstacles depends upon their material and
their shape!
The acoustic signalling during backing does not exempt the driver from respon-
sibility for damages inflicted when parking the vehicle and in similar mano-
euvres.
Therefore, before backing make sure that there is no obstacle of smaller size be-
hind your vehicle (e.g. a stone, a thin pillar, draught pole of a trailer etc.). Such
an obstacle could be located out of the sensed area.
edge sensor No. 1 (PIN 11, 23)
central sensor No. 2 (PIN 9, 21)
central sensor No. 3 (PIN 10, 22)
