PARK DISTANCE CONTROL
The accessories are intended for professional fitting. Škoda Auto recommends the
fitting to be carried out by its contract partners.
The park distance control, ordering No. BEA 710 001, is intended for vehicles
Škoda Fabia (5J), and it serves to facilitate the backing. The four sensors in the
GB
rear bumper watch the distance between the vehicle and a possible obstacle.
The driver is informed on the extent of the free area by the acoustic signal from
the loudspeaker.
If an obstacle appears at a distance of 160 cm from the rear section of the ve-
hicle, it is signalled with short beeps at an interval of 1 second. Approaching
the obstacle, this interval gets shorter continuously. At a distance of 30 cm,
the beeping changes into an uninterrupted tone (signal STOP). Moreover, it is
accompanied with jump changes of the its pitch, see individual zones, fig. 14.
The park distance control is not connected to data lines, and therefore, its
diagnostics by the instrument VAS is not possible.
The park distance control unit is equipped with analogue input (PIN 19) for deacti-
vating the park control when it is attached to a trailer. Connection can be executed
through the violet wire (G).
However, the towing couplings, mounted from the Škoda series or the Škoda
genuine accessories portfolio, are not equipped with analogue input (i.e. that deacti-
vation cannot be used with these towing couplings).
The park distance control unit is equipped with output (PIN 20) which enables turning
the car radio down when the reverse gear is engaged (after connection to the MUTE
connector on the car radio). Connection can be executed through the violet wire (G).
The wire for connection to the car radio is not included in the set.
When removing the individual parts and re-fitting them, proceed in accor-
dance with the Workshop Manuals. During the fitting, the car battery must be
disconnected.
Remove the rear bumper and the panel of the threshold of the luggage compartment.
Loosen and tilt aside the side panel of lining of the luggage compartment on the side
behind the fellow traveller, and remove the lining of the C-pillar. If you have difficul-
ties while pulling the wires and fixing the control unit, you can remove the side panel,
if needed.
Before gluing the park sensor holders, the control unit and foam adhesive tapes,
clean and degrease all the chosen places carefully using a suitable degreaser. Let
them dry for 10 minutes. Once the places have been prepared in this way, do not
touch them more for any reason; otherwise it is not possible to guarantee the
perfect affixing of individual parts!
