1 General safety instructions
• Before transporting the device, secure the compo-
nents against impact, sliding or falling.
• During storage, protect the device against damag-
ing influences.
• Provide adequate lighting when working.
• Refrain from any procedures which impair the
stability of the device.
• After each operation, inspect the device for visible
damage and defects. Report any changes immedi-
ately to the competent person/organisation!
• Keep the device away from direct heat sources and
open flames.
• The device must not come into contact with aggres-
sive media (acids, lyes, solvents, vapours).
• When working near live components and lines, take
appropriate measures to prevent current transfer or
high-voltage flashovers.
• Where necessary, take special precautions on sur-
faces which do not offer adequate protection
against slipping (ice, oils, etc.).
• In difficult operating conditions (e. g. on slopes),
secure the device against tipping.
2 Duties of the operator
The operator must on his own responsibility ensure
that improper use is ruled out.
3 Intended use
The device serves as a climbing aid when performing
rescue work requiring the use of rescue equipment in
an elevated position (e.g. when working on the cab of
a lorry or a bus).
The device may only be used by persons who, as a
result of their specific professional qualification,
training and/or experience, are able to identify the risks
and avoid the hazards involved during the use of the
device.
The device may only be used within the limits defined
by its technical data and in accordance with these
instructions.
4 Improper use
Use the device only for its intended purpose. In
particular, improper use includes the following:
• Use with defective components
• Use of non-original spare parts
• Unauthorised structural modifications to the device
5 Description
The device consists of an aluminium platform
equipped with a foldable ladder on each end. The
ladders have adjustable feet which can be used to
level out uneven surfaces. A guardrail can be inserted
on both sides of the basic platform.
The device can also be used on rails by fitting a
separately available set of wheels (not included in the
scope of delivery).

Type plate and information plate
The type plate is attached to the long side of the
platform. Figure showing the type plate, see Page 12.
It bears the following information:
• Article number
• Ident. number
• Month/year of manufacture

6 Use
For details of use, see Page 7.
7 Inspection
Carry out a visual inspection after each use, and have
ladders and steps inspected regularly for proper condi-
tion by an experienced person, in accordance with the
operating conditions. This inspection must be
performed at least 1x per year. The experienced per-
son is authorised to carry out inspection by the opera-
tor and must have taken part in the seminars
prescribed by law in the country concerned. The in-
spection must be documented using the ladder check
sheet on Page 19.
8 Cleaning and care
Do not use acids, lyes or solvents for cleaning. Clean
the device with a solution of water and a standard
cleaning agent.
9 Disposal
Dispose of the device in compliance with the locally
applicable regulations.
