Safety and operating instructions

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

To reduce the risk of serious injury or death to
yourself or others, read these safety instructions
before operating the machine.
Display these safety instructions at work locations,
provide copies for employees and make sure that
everyone reads the safety instructions before
operating or servicing the machine.
Comply with all the safety regulations.

Safety symbols used

The terms Danger, Warning and Caution have
the following meanings:
Danger
Indicates an imminently
hazardous situation which,
if not avoided, will result in
death or serious injury.
Warning
Indicates a potentially
hazardous situation which,
if not avoided, could result
in death or serious injury.
Caution
Indicates a potentially
hazardous situation which,
if not avoided, may result
in minor or moderate
injury.
Machine and tool operating
hazards
Warning
A sudden or unexpected movement of the machine
may occur during use, which may cause injuries. In
addition losing your balance or slipping may cause
injury. To reduce these risks:
Make sure that you always stand in a stable
position with your feet the same width apart
as your shoulders, and with your body weight
balanced.
Stand firmly and always hold on to the machine
with both hands.
Do not start the machine when it is lying on the
ground.
Make sure that the handles are clean and free of
grease and oil.
Warning
Starting the machine unintentionally may cause
injury.
Keep your hands away from the start and stop
device until you are about to start work.

Warning
The tool is exposed to heavy strain when the
machine is used and after a certain amount of use
the tool may break as a result of fatugue. If the
tool breaks, the machine and the tool may make
sudden or violent movements. These sudden or
violent movements may cause serious injury.
Make sure that you always stand in a stable
position with your feet as far apart as your
shoulders, and with your body weight balanced.
Keep your feet away from the tool.
Do not 'ride' on the machine with one leg over
the handle, as you could be seriously injured if
the tool were suddenly to break.
Check regularly for any wear on the tool, and
check the tool if there is any risk of damage or
cracks.
Do not use worn out or damaged tools.
Warning
If the tool's shank is the wrong size the tool may
be dropped or ejected. A tool which is dropped or
ejected can cause injury.
Before the tool is fitted, make sure that the
shank is the correct size for the machine.
A tool without a collar should not be used.
Warning
If the tool retainer on the machine is not in the
locked position, the tool can be ejected with great
force, which can cause serious injury.
After the tool has been fitted and locked in
position, chech the lock function by jerking the
tool forcefully.
Make sure that the tool is fully inserted and the
tool retainer is in the locked position before the
machine is started.
Warning
Changing the tool while the machine is running
may cause serious injury.
Before changing the tool, always stop the machine
and close it down by pushing the start and stop
device.
