5. OPERATION

WARNING!
Before operating your bicycle on public roads, test in a safe area the operation of your
shifter and brake levers to be sure that they operate smoothly and properly, and to
insure that the cables are the correct lenght to allow you to turn and control your bicy-
cle safely. Make any necessary adjustments before you ride. Failure to do could result
in an accident, personal injury or death.
• Lever A (Fig. 21) influences brake operation.
• Lever B (Fig. 21) on the left shifter acts on the front derailleur, shifting the chain to
the larger chainring. In the case of triple cranksets repeat the operation to shift the
chain to the largest chainring.
• Lever C (Fig. 21) acts on the front derailleur, shifting the chain to the smaller chainring.
• Lever D (Fig. 21) on the right shifter acts on the rear derailleur, shifting the chain to
the larger sprocket.
• Lever E (Fig. 21) on the right shifter acts on the rear derailleur, shifting the chain to
the smaller sprocket.
• Levers E and D (Fig. 21) on the right shifter can be actuated repeatedly to raise (max.
3 sprockets) or lower (from the largest to the smallest - max. 2 sprockets) the chain
in one single operation.

6. REMOVAL

• Remove the cap (A - Fig. 4 - Pg. 20) from both shifters.
• Remove both gear cables and brake cable.
• Loosen the Allen screw (F - Fig. 5 - Pg. 20) by means of a 5 mm Allen key.
• Slide out the controls from the handlebar.
NOTE
The Ergopower FB controls feature a locknut (F & G - Fig. 22) that enables the brake
to be opened directly from the shifter, facilitating wheel removal. In order to perform this
operation turn the locknut in the direction indicated on the Fig. 22 until it stops (quick-
release position).

7. MAINTENANCE

• Housings are pre-lubricated and do not require additional greasing.
• Campagnolo
®
advises you to have the Ergopower FB controls checked by a qualified
bicycle technician every 3 years or every 30,000 km at the latest, and to replace
cables and housings every 2 years or every 20,000 km at the latest.
• If used professionally, have the Ergopower controls checked by a qualified bicycle tech-
nician and replace cables and housings every year or every 15,000 km at the latest.
• The above intervals are indicative and should be adjusted according to the usage
conditions and intensity of activities (e.g.: racing, rain, salty roads, etc.). Ask your
technician which maintenance interval most suited to your use.
• Water and dirt are the most common causes of damage to components. Please keep
your bicycle and its components clean at all times.
NOTE
Do not wash your bicycle with pressurized water. Even water exiting the nozzle of a
common garden hose may penetrate gaskets and wet your Campagnolo
causing irreversible damage. Clean your bicycle and its Campagnolo
wiping down with neutral soap and water.
