Panini Maker: Hints for Best Results
•
It is customary to prepare panini using a hearty loaf of bread. However, panini made from store-bought
sliced breads or rolls can be delicious and simple to prepare. Have fun and experiment with a variety
of breads, tortillas, flatbreads, even pitas.
•
For health-conscious cooks, the non-stick coating of the cooking plates assures crisp and delicious
toasting without the use of oil or butter.
•
While it is not necessary to butter or oil the outside of the bread, spreading a small amount
of butter or olive oil is recommended to encourage even browning of the bread.
IMPORTANT: Do not use non-stick sprays as they can cause build-up on the cooking plates.
Use vegetable or olive oil instead.
•
Have all ingredients at hand before preparing panini.
•
When using soft or liquid fillings, use thicker-sliced breads. Try removing the insides of soft rolls
to create a cup in which filling can be added.
•
Most fruits release juice when heated. Drain and pat fresh or canned fruit dry with a clean paper towel.
•
Avoid using processed cheeses, as they tend to "run" under high temperatures.
•
Dessert Paninis are delicious! A teaspoon of sugar sprinkled on the buttered side makes grilled
panini crispier and adds flavor when using sweet fillings.
•
Whole grain and sweet breads will grill faster than white breads and should be grilled for less time.
•
After you have removed finished panini, close the upper grill plate to retain heat while assembling
more sandwiches.
•
To avoid food contamination, wearing oven mitts, use a soft, absorbent paper towel and a dab of
vegetable oil to wipe the grill plates clean after each use.
Omelets and Poached Eggs
Omelets 350ºF, 4 to 5 minutes
Poached Eggs 300ºF, 3 minutes
HINT: Use the 8-IN-1 Grill Station to cook omelet ingredients, if desired. Making omelets is a great way to
use leftovers.
1. Install 2 reversible panini/omelet plates; omelet cookside up.
2. Following recipe directions, turn the temperature control dial to 350ºF.
3. Omelet ingredients should be pre-cooked and cut into small pieces. Suitable fillings for the omelets
include shredded cheese, small cooked, chopped vegetables such as thawed, frozen peas, blue
onions, mushrooms, fresh or thawed and pressed spinach, drained chopped tomatoes, thinly sliced
pieces of cooked bacon, sausage, meats or poultry.
CAUTION: Do not use any foods with bones or pits.
4. Place 2 fresh eggs in a small bowl. Whip well.
5. When the blue READY light illuminates, add 1/4 of the whipped eggs into each mold. Add filling
ingredients to both molds. Top each mold with the remainder of the eggs.
WARNING: To avoid fillings from leaking into the reservoir, do not over-fill the omelet molds.
6. Close the lid and cook for 4 to 5 minutes. Check for doneness and if more time is needed, close the
lid and cook for 15 second increments. Wearing oven mitts, remove omelets using a heat-proof
rubber spatula.
7. Poached eggs are simple to prepare. Turn the temperature control dial to 300ºF.
8. When the blue READY light illuminates, add 3 tablespoons water to each mold, crack 1 egg and add
to each mold. Close the lid and cook for 3 minutes.
9. Wearing oven mitts, remove eggs from the cooking plate(s) using a heat-proof rubber spatula.
WARNING: Never use a sharp or metal object as it may damage the non-stick surface of the
omelet plates.
10. If additional eggs are going to be cooked, close the 8-IN-1 Grill Station to retain heat.
11. When eggs are finished cooking, turn the temperature control dial to 250ºF.
Remove the plug from the wall outlet.
WARNING! ALWAYS UNPLUG UNIT WHEN COOKING IS FINISHED. OTHERWISE,
THE 8-IN-1 GRILL STATION WILL CONTINUE TO HEAT UNTIL UNIT IS UNPLUGGED.
12. Allow 8-IN-1 Grill Station to cool completely before removing cooking plates or to clean the unit.
