Electric staff.
Proper product use
The programmable logic controllers (PLCs) of the MELSEC iQ-R series are only
intended for the applications described in this installation manual and/or the
other manuals referenced below. All operating parameters and settings spec-
ified in this manual must be observed. The products described have all been
designed, manufactured, tested and documented in strict compliance with
the relevant safety standards. Unauthorized modification of the hardware or
software or failure to observe the warnings in this manual and on the products
may result in serious injury to personnel and/or damage to property. Only
peripherals and expansion equipment specifically recommended and
approved by Mitsubishi Electric may be used with the programmable logic
controllers of the MELSEC iQ-R series. All and any other uses shall be deemed
to be improper.

4
Always switch off the power supply to PLC and other external power sup-
plies before performing any installation and wiring work.
E
WARNING
● Only operate the equipment under the conditions described in the
MELSEC iQ-R Hardware Manual. Do not expose the equipment to dust,
oil mist, corrosive or flammable gases, strong vibrations or impacts,
high temperatures, condensation or damp.
● When installing the equipment take care that no shavings, filings or
wire fragments that could cause short circuits fall into the module. Use
the supplied cover to seal the ventilation slits during installation.
Remember to remove the cover after installing the unit, otherwise the
controller can overheat during operation.
● Fix the cables connected to a module so that the terminals or the con-
nector is not directly stressed.
Tighten the screws of the module using torque within the following ranges.
Loose screws may cause short circuits, mechanical failures or malfunction.

Module mounting screw (M3)
Connector screw (M2.6)
Mounting a module to a base unit
E
WARNING
● Do not open or modify a module. Doing so can cause a failure, mal-
function, injury or fire.
● Always insert the module fixing latch of the module into the module
fixing hole of the base unit. Forcing the hook into the hole will damage
the module connector and module.
● Do not touch the conductive or electronic parts of a module directly.
Doing so can cause a unit malfunction or failure.
After switching off the power
supply, insert the module fixing
latch into the module fixing hole
of the base unit.
Push the module in the direction
of arrow to load it into the base
unit.
Secure the module with an additional screw (M3 x 12) to the base unit if
large vibration is expected. This screw is not supplied with the module.

E
CAUTION
● Do not lay signal cables close to the main circuit, high-voltage power
lines, or load lines. Otherwise effects of noise or surge induction are
likely to take place. Keep a safe distance of more than 100 mm from
the above when wiring.
● Ground the shield wire or shield of a shielded cable at one point on the
PLC. However, do not ground at the same point as high voltage lines.
● Fix the electric wires so that the terminal block and connected parts of
electric wires are not directly stressed.
● To comply with the EMC Directive and Low-Voltage Directive, always
ground the RD75P/D to the control box using shielded cables and
AD75CK cable clamping (Mitsubishi Electric make).
Applicable cables and connectors
For the connection of external signals use 40-pin connectors A6CON. If a duct
is used to separate the cables to the RD75P/D from power lines, use grounded
metal ducts or metal piping.
Use twisted pair shielded cable with a wire size of 0.3 mm². The shield must be
grounded on the RD75P/D side.

Torque
0.37 to 0.48 Nm
0.2 to 0.29 Nm
RD75P/D
The length between the connector and the shielded
cables should be the shortest possible.
