6. Fill engine with recommendedoil. (See "Before Starting the
Generator"for oil recommendations).
7. Wipe up any spilled oil.
8. Disposeof used oil at a proper collection center.
3.4.6 REPLACING THE SPARK PLUG
Use Champion RC14YCspark plug or equivalent. Replace the
plug every 200 hours.This wilt help the engine start easier and
run better.
1. Stop the engine and pull the spark plug wire off of the spark
plug.
2. To gain access, remove the four (4) screws and remove the
side panel.
3. Cleanthe area around the spark plug and remove it from the
cylinder head.
4. Set the spark plug's gap to .76 mm (0.030 in.). Install the
correctly gappedspark plug intothe cylinder head (Figure13).
5. Pushthe bootfirmly on the spark plug and install side panel.

3.5 SERVICE AIRFILTER
The engine wilt not run properly and may be damaged if using a
dirty air filter. Cleanor replace the air filter paper filter every 200
hours or once a year (Figure 14). Cleanor replace more often if
operatingunder dusty conditions.
To clean or replacepaperair filter:
1. Removeair filter cover; then removethe paperfilter.
2. Cleanpaperfilter by tapping it gently on a solid surface. If the
filter is too dirty, replaceit with a new one. Disposeof the old
filter properly.
3. Cleanair filter cover,then insert new paperfilter into the base
of the air filter. Re-installair filter cover.

3.6 CLEAN SPARK ARRESTOR SCREEN
The engine exhaust muffler has a spark arrestor screen. Inspect
and clean the screen every 100 hours or at least once each year
(Figure15). If unit is used regularly,inspectand clean more often.

using the generator on any forest=covered,
brush=covered
or grass=covered unimproved
land, it must be equipped with a spark arrestor.
The spark arrestor must be maintained in good
condition by the owner/operator.
Cleanand inspectthe spark arrestor when the engine is at ambient
temperatureas follows:
1. Insert a flat blade screwdriverthrough the slot on the side of
the muffler heat shield to access the spark arrestor clamp.
Loosenthe clamp and removethe spark arrestor screen from
the muffler.
2. Inspect screen and replace if torn, perforated or otherwise
damaged. DO NOT USEa defective screen. If screen is not
damaged,clean it with commercial solvent.
3. Replacethe spark arrestor and tighten the clamp.
