Installation Instructions – PN3LED12 Recessed Housing Platform
INSTALLATION
Housing Platform
Non-IC Platform: The PN3LED12 housing platform is
● ●
designed for installations where the housing platform
does not come in contact with insulation (Figure 2.). Do
not install insulation within 3 inches of Luminaire sides,
wiring compartment or above.
To ensure proper performance, the housing platform
● ●
must be installed with the edge of the plaster frame
collar flush to within 1/2˝ of bottom of the finished
ceiling. The housing platform is designed for 1/2˝ to 1˝
thick ceilings using the standard plaster frame collar
(Figure 3.).
The PN3LED12 housing platform is equipped with
● ●
universal hanger brackets (Figure 4.). The height of each
hanger bracket can be adjusted by loosening the two
adjustment screws, setting the bracket height and
re-tightening the adjustment screws to secure
the bracket in position.
The housing platform should be supported by main
● ●
runners or other structure that is capable of supporting a
fixture weight of 10 pounds (Figure 5.). To accommodate
tighter joist spacing, remove universal hanger
brackets by adjusting bracket to the highest position and
removing the mounting screws (Figure 4.). After removing
hanger brackets, reinstall the mounting screws onto the
housing to maintain airtight construction.
The Bar Hangers are adjustable for use in installations
● ●
with spacing from 10˝ to 24˝. They can be used with joist
installations of wood, engineered lumber, steel stud
construction and with grid ceilings having T-bars. Bar
Hangers are of an interlocking design and allow
positioning of housing platform along the entire length of
the bars, and are also captive after installation.
The LED is protected against contamination a pink
● ●
plastic cap installed over the LED reflector. Remove LED
protective piece prior to energizing.
Joist Installation
Use the bar hangers for joist installations.
1. Extend bar hangers to fit between joist and position
mounting tab locator lip tight to bottom of joist or
framing member. Bar hangers should be level with
bottom of joist or framing member. (Figure 6.)
2. Attach bar hangers to joist or framing member using
appropriate hardware for material type.
3. Adjust housing platform position by sliding on bar
hangers to desired position. Housing may be locked
into position by tightening bar hanger locking screws on
housing platform.

Grid Ceiling Installation
Use the bar hangers for grid ceiling installations.
1. Extend bar hangers and slide the slots in the mounting
tabs over the T-bars. Optional fasteners can be used for
attaching the bar hangers to the T-bar (Figure 7 .).
2. Adjust housing platform position by sliding on bar
hangers to desired position. Housing may be locked
into position by tightening the two bar hanger locking
screws on housing platform (Detail 6A).
