Overspray Protector
The housing platform is shipped with a cardboard overspray
protector installed in the aperture. To prevent paint and dust
from entering the housing platform, do not remove the
overspray protector until trim out.

Electrical Connection

The IRiS PN3LED12 housing platform features an oversized
junction box that is divided into factory and field wiring
compartments (Figure 8.). A separate compartment for
low-voltage wiring is also provided.
DO NOT modify the factory wiring settings as it may
N otee:
cause the luminaire to malfunction. Provide electrical
service, according to the "National Electrical Code"
or your local electrical code, from a suitable junction
box to the wiring box located on the plaster frame.
N otee: The junction box will accept 1/2˝ and 3/4˝ trade size
fittings. Review fixture labeling to make sure it is
rated for the voltage installation being used. Make
sure no bare wires are exposed outside the wire nut
connectors.
1. Provide electrical service according to the "National
Electrical Code" or your local electrical code to the
junction box (located on the plaster frame). Supply wire
insulation must be rated for at least 90° C.
2. Remove junction box cover.
3. Remove appropriate round knockout and connect
conduit to junction box with proper connector (not
included).
4. 120V or 277V AC Supply: Connect white to white, black
to black and green (from electrical service) to the bare
copper wire in the junction box. The linear disconnect is
marked for white (common) and black (hot)
(Figure 9.). If the fixture is to be switched from a wall
switch, connect the black power supply wire to the
switch.
DO NOT connect the white power supply wire to the

switch.
5. For dimming, use one of the following wiring methods.
The low voltage wiring can be done with gray and
purple 20 AWG wire for runs up to 500ft. For runs over
500ft 18 AWG or larger is recommended.
a. For 0-10V dimming, use purple wire for DIM+ and gray
wire for DIM- in the low voltage compartment (Figure 9.).
b. For DALI dimming, use purple and gray wires, Color code
does not matter (Figure 9.).
c. For Lutron 2 wire dimming, use black wire in field
compartment for dimmed hot (Figure 10.).
d. For Lutron 3 wire dimming, use purple wire with E1
terminal and gray wire with E2 ECO terminal on ESN
(Figure 11.). Do not use the purple and grey wires.

e. For phase cut and other line voltage dimming refer to the
dimming device manual for wiring instructions.
6. Place all connections and excess wiring into the
junction box and replace cover.
