Furthermore, a leakage detector is installed in the motor chamber (DI = normally open contact) to
indicate any water entering into the motor. Connection: 5V DC, 2mA (max. 30V DC, max. 30mA)
Opening the WSK and closing the DI must deactivate the pump, acknowledgement may only take
place manually.
CAUTION! Risk of damage to the pump!
WSK and DI are offset against the protective earth (PE). Only galvanic separated or
non-earthed control voltages can therefore be used!
The aforementioned safety installations (WSK and DI) are only guaranteed to function
correctly where they are used in conjunction with suitable switching units. If coils are
damaged due to a not suitable motor control no guarantee will be assumed!
The explosion protection is bound on the connection of the WSK and DI.
All switching units have to be outside the explosive areas.
The customer must ensure that the pump is bled using a suitable automatic bleeding mechanism so
as to ensure that the pumping process starts as soon as the switching level is reached. The supply to
the shaft must be designed in a way to prevent air from entering into the pump hydraulics.
CAUTION! Risk of damage to the pump!
Do not allow the pump to run dry!
Dry running shortens the life of the motor and the mechanical seal. If the mechanical
seal is damaged, small quantities of oil may leak into the flow medium.
Do not use frequency converters (FC).
Ensure the pump cable does not snap during laying and that all other wires and insulation materials
do not suffer damage caused by vibrations or rubbing during operation of the pump.
3.2
Operating modes for motors with cooling jacket
3.2.1 Operating mode S1 (continuous operation) and S3 25% (intermittent operation)
The submersible motor with a cooling jacket made from INOX is cooled even when the motor rises
above the flow medium. The pumping liquid is piped through an annular passage between the pump
housing and the impeller into the cooling jacket where it is used as the cooling medium. The water
level may only be lowered to the upper edge of the pump housing.
Once this minimum level is reached, a reliable level control should be used to switch the
pump off as a safety measure!
Submersible pumps with cooling jacket and cast iron hydraulics may be operated in dry well installa-
tion.
In dry well installation, the pump may only be switched on and operated if the pump is
installed and in flooded condition (pump housing completely filled with flow medium)!
For pumps with plastic hydraulic parts, the explosion protection in dry well installation
is not guaranteed!
