Troubleshooting at Install
PROBLEM
Grinding noise at power
up.
Smears, lines, marks or
spots on copies.
Irregular faded patches

PROBABLE CAUSE

SUGGESTED SOLUTION
Power down.
Locate the Scan Lock switch on the
underside of the scanner.
Make sure that the Scan Lock has been
moved to the unlock position (
Power down.
Remove all remaining packing material from
the trays.
Clean the Document Glass and the
underside of the Document Feeder.
Refer to the User Guide for cleaning
instructions.
Verify there are no defects on the original.
Remove the toner cartridge.
Shake it gently to distribute the toner evenly.
Reinstall the toner cartridge.
Ensure the paper used in the machine
meets the specifications provided in the
User Guide.
