the button is pressed the reading increases
by one unit; when the end of the list is
reached, the reading starts from cycle 1 back
again.
If the door is open, of course, ignore the first
instruction and go straight to cycle selection.
Right after cycle selection, the temperature
display unit will read the maximum
temperature setting for two seconds; then it
will resume normal temperature reading, i.e
the value read by the probe.
After you have chosen your cycle based on
the temperature and wash action suggested
by the fabric care labels attached to the
garments (see wash cycle specifications
below), sort the laundry according to the
type of fabric, load the drum and close the
door.
Then fill the various dispenser compartments
with soap (foam-damping type) according
to cycle selection, i.e.:
A prewash compartment (when scheduled
by the wash cycle selected)
B main wash compartment
C compartment for other products to be
added during the last rinse
Then select the water level, which ranges
between the factory setting (calculated for
the maximum laundry load) and a 20%
reduction that may apply to partial loads or
economy cycles.
This selection is made available by the ad-
hoc button located below the START button.
WARNING! This function simply reduces
the amount of water and soap used with
reference to factory-foreseen amounts. NOT
to be interpreted as "half-load button".
Start the program pressing the green
"START" button, which is on the control
panel, on the right. The door will
automatically be locked and cycle progress
will be shown by the leds on the left of the
control panel (see Figure 1).
Pressure on the start button also causes the
timer to commence the countdown to the
end of the cycle.
Such time values are those that the machine
has stored in previous equivalent cycles.
Therefore they are not binding but represent
a mere reference.
Each time the buttons are pressed the machine
beeps briefly. It beeps for 15 seconds at the
end of the cycle.
It is however possible to stop the buzzer by
pressing the "_" push button or even inhibit
the buzzer altogether through programming
(see 7.3, function F5).
How to change a cycle in progress
If a wrong cycle has been started it is possible
to change the selection within the first two
minutes of operation.
The display showing the cycle number
actually blinks for two minutes after cycle
start, to indicate that it is still possible to
change the selection.
If the "P" button is pressed during this
interval, the cycle is stopped and the next
cycle starts. Again while the cycle display
blinks it will be possible to switch to the next
selection and so on, until the desired cycle is
reached.
Cycle change occurs quickly after the "P"
button is pressed, so that repeated machine
starts and stops are avoided.
Alarm and fault signalling
When faults arise (voltage drop,
supertemperature, water level error) the
washing machine notifies the user by a
number of alarms that appear on the front
panel DISPLAY. All alarm details are dealt
with in the "ALARMS" chapter.
How to correct tub water level reading
Under normal conditions, water level reading
needn't be corrected, but when special
installation factors like elevation ask for it, it
is possible to set the zero level value in the
tub.
Set the zero level value in the tub as follows,
with the machine switched on and without
starting the cycle:
1) Open the door.
2) Sight-check that the tub is empty (of both
water and items).
3) Hold
the "+" and "-" keys down
simultaneously for at least 5 seconds.
4) The displays will read "CA LI b".
5) Now, confirm the value read by the card
pressing the PROG push-button.
6) The BUZZER will give out a beep and the
DISPLAYS will return to their normal
functions.
Water level correction has been carried out
properly. Otherwise the machine will keep
the zero value previously stored.
7.2 CYCLE STEPS
The leds on the right part of the control
display indicate the various cycle steps, i.e.
from top to bottom:
17
1) YELLOW LED: STOP - The wash cycle
is over or the machine has just been
switched on
2) GREEN LED: SOAK - Soak step
underway (when scheduled).
3) GREEN LED: PREWASH Prewash step
underway (when scheduled)
4) GREEN LED: WASH Wash step
underway
5) GREEN LED: RINSE 1/RINSE 3 -
Rinse underway (any between 1 and 3)
6) GREEN LED: SPIN Final or
intermediate spin underway (blinks
when slowing down)
7) GREEN LED: DISTRIB. Distribution
step underway
The leds blink when the machine is going
through a transitional intake or drain stage.
The intermittence stops when the machine
has reached the next step.
As soon as the cycle is over the YELLOW
LED goes on and the door is automatically
unlocked: then it will be possible to open the
door using the handle and thus pick the clean
laundry.
CAUTION! Never force the door open.
Open by hand only after it has been
unlocked.
At any rate, before opening the door make
sure that the drum has stopped, the water has
been drained and the temperature inside the
drum is below 40°C (take a look at the
temperature display). In the event of power
failure, open the door by jerking the manual
puller downwards.
To reach the manual puller it is necessary to
unscrew the two fixing screws with a straight-
bit screwdriver and withdraw the machine's
front bottom panel. After the door has been
unlocked, open it using the handle as
explained above and then put the panel back
in place.
7.3 CONFIGURATION OF SETTINGS
Besides the "START" and "ECONOMY"
push-buttons, the machine has 4 more buttons
for cycle selection and special functions (see
6.1).
More precisely, with the door closed, before
the cycle is started, the programming mode
can be entered by pressing the "PROG"
push-button. The time display will then blink
"Pr" and the remaining two displays will go
off.
