INSTALLATION INSTRuCTIONS continued
3. Connect the Tubing
NOTE: The system is designed to be connected to 1/4-inch plastic
tubing used for potable drinking water. Larger diameter tubing will
require tubing adapters. Adapters can be purchased from most local
hardware retail stores.
NOTE: Using a utility knife, cleanly cut the tubing straight across. Take
care not to scratch or scuff the tubing surface.
A)
Determine the length of plastic tubing needed to connect the
water supply to inlet of the system. Ensure tubing is long enough
to prevent kinks in the tubing once the system is installed.
B)
Determine the length of plastic tubing needed to connect the
outlet of the system to the refrigerator. The length of tubing
required can be determined by the distance between the wall and
refrigerator when the refrigerator is pulled forward to make the
connections, typically five to eight feet of tubing.
C)
Measure 5/8 inch from the end of the tubing and mark with tape
or marker. Wet the end of the inlet tubing and press into the inlet
fitting of the system. Ensure the tubing is fully pushed past the
fitting o-rings up to the mark. Repeat for this step for the outlet
tubing.
D)
Connect outlet tubing to refrigerator according to the refrigerator
manufacturer's recommendations for water line connection.
NOTE: Installation of a T-flush valve is recommended when this
system is used with an icemaker. See illustration on page 4.
4. Install the Filter Cartridge
NOTE: The system is designed to ensure proper alignment of the
cartridge to the filter head assembly prior to installation.
A)
Align the tab on the filter cartridge with the slot in the filter head
assembly.
B)
Place hand on filter head assembly to steady the stem. Slide the
cartridge filter up into the head assembly until it can go no further.
Rotate the cartridge clockwise 1/4 turn until the cartridge can go
no further.
5. Place the System into Operation
A)
Slowly turn on the cold water supply.
B)
Flush filter for 5 minutes through the water dispenser. If appliance
is equipped with only an icemaker, flush through the T-flush valve.
Discard water.
C)
Turn on the icemaker.
D)
Turn on water and check for leaks. If leaks are found, see
troubleshooting section in manual, or call OMNIFILTER Customer
Service at 800.937.6664
E)
A change indication sticker is included. Fill in the bottom half and
secure it to the filter cartridge.
NOTE: A drinking water cartridge may contain carbon fines (very fine
black powder). If carbon fines appear in the ice, discard ice. More
flushing is required if carbon fines are present.
NOTE: Initially, filtered water may appear cloudy. If cloudiness in
a glass of water disappears from the bottom, fine air bubbles are
present. This air within the water will disappear within a few weeks
after installation.
INSTALLATION IS NOW COMPLETE.
