Battery Charging (see figure A)
Use only the battery chargers listed on the accessories
page. Only these battery chargers are matched to the lith-
ium-ion battery of your power tool.
Note: The battery supplied is partially charged. To ensure full
capacity of the battery, completely charge the battery in the
battery charger before using your power tool for the first time.
The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without re-
ducing its service life. Interrupting the charging procedure
does not damage the battery.
The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharging
by the "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)". When the battery is
empty, the machine is switched off by means of a protective
circuit: The inserted tool no longer rotates.
Do not continue to press the On/Off switch after the
machine has been automatically switched off. The bat-
tery can be damaged.
Note: If the machine should automatically switch off because
of a discharged or overheated battery, make sure to set the
machine's On/Off switch 2 to off. Charge the battery and al-
low it to cool down before restarting the machine. Otherwise
the battery can become damaged.
To remove the battery 3, press the unlocking buttons 4 and
pull the battery out of the machine to the rear. Do not exert
any force.
Observe the notes for disposal.
Dust/Chip Extraction
Dusts from materials such as lead-containing coatings,
some wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to
one's health. Touching or breathing-in the dusts can cause
allergic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of
the user or bystanders.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are considered
as carcinogenic, especially in connection with wood-treat-
ment additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials
containing asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– As far as possible, use a dust extraction system suitable
for the material.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the mate-
rials to be worked.
Prevent dust accumulation at the workplace. Dusts can
easily ignite.
External Dust Extraction (see figure B–C)
When working without dust extraction, please plug the outlet
piece 8 with the dust protection cap 9.
When working with dust extraction, remove the dust protec-
tion cap 9. Insert the extraction adapter 10 into the outlet
piece 8. A suction hose with a diameter of 19 mm can be con-
nected to the extraction adapter 10.
An overview for connecting to different vacuum cleaners can
be found at the end of these operating instructions.
The vacuum cleaner must be suitable for the material being
worked.
Bosch Power Tools
When vacuuming dry dust that is especially detrimental to
health or carcinogenic, use a special vacuum cleaner.
Replacing the Sanding Sheet (see figure D)
When attaching a new sanding sheet, remove any dust or de-
bris from the sanding plate 6 (e. g. with a brush).
To ensure optimum dust extraction, pay attention that the
punched holes in the sanding sheet match with the holes in
the sanding plate.
The sanding plate 6 is fitted with Velcro backing for quick and
easy fastening of sanding sheets with Velcro adhesion.
Before attaching the sanding sheet 5, free the Velcro backing
of the sanding plate 6 from any debris by tapping against it in
order to enable optimum adhesion.
The machine is fitted with 2 sanding sheets that can be
changed individually, depending on the degree of wear.
Only use the machine when both sanding sheets are
mounted.
Only use sanding sheets with the same grain size.
Position the sanding sheet 5 flush alongside one edge of the
sanding plate 6, then lay the sanding sheet onto the sanding
plate and press firmly.
To remove the sanding sheet 5, grasp it at one of the tips and
pull it off from the sanding plate 6.
Sanding sheets of the Bosch Delta Sander can be used.
Sanding accessories, such as fleece pads/polishing cloth
pads, are attached to the sanding plate in the same manner.
Selecting the Sanding Sheet
Depending on the material to be worked and the required rate
of material removal, different sanding sheets are available:
For the working of all types of materi-
als such as wood, paint, filler, lacquer,
hard and soft wood as well as chip-
boards and metal.
For coarse-sanding, e. g. of rough, un-
planed beams and boards
For face sanding and planing small ir-
regularities
For finish and fine sanding of hard
woods
For reworking or polishing, especially of metal and stone, use
fleece/polishing cloth pad.
Depending on the desired surface quality of the workpiece,
different fleece types or polishing cloth pads are to be used.
Replacing the Sanding Plate
The supplied sanding plate 6 consists of two parts: base and
replaceable front triangle. The front triangle is fitted with Vel-
cro backing and can be replaced. To remove the sanding plate
front triangle, grasp it at one of the tips and pull it off.
