Dust Extraction
WARNING: Always connect the tool to a suitable vacuum cleaner or workshop dust extraction
system if the dust contains harmful substances, such as particles from old paint, varnish, surface
coatings etc. Always dispose of harmful dust according to laws and regulations.
WARNING: Take special care to guard against harmful and toxic dusts when cutting
lead-based painted surfaces, woods and metals, particularly if you are unsure about the exact
substances involved. All persons entering the work area must wear a mask specially designed for
protection against the toxic dust and fumes involved. Children and pregnant women MUST NOT
enter the work area. DO NOT eat, drink or smoke in the work area.
IMPORTANT: It is essential to take proper measures to prevent dust entering the motor and other
internal mechanisms of this tool. Failure to do so may seriously reduce the life and performance
of this tool.
WARNING: Take special care when cutting some woods (such as beech, oak, mahogany
and teak), as the dust produced is toxic and can cause extreme reactions. Always wear appropriate
respiratory protection.
WARNING: DO NOT use a dust bag when cutting metal. Hot metal particles and sparks could
ignite residual wood dust, or cause the bag to catch fire. Always connect the jigsaw to a workshop
dust extraction system when cutting metal. Always clean the tool THOROUGHLY when switching
from cutting wood to sanding metal, and vice versa.
Connecting the dust extraction system
• Connect a vacuum or dust extraction system to the tool using via the Dust Extraction
Port (7) (Fig. III)
Note: An adaptor may be required depending on the vacuum or dust extraction system.
Setting bevel angle
• This jigsaw is equipped with an Adjustable Shoe (8), which allows bevel cuts to be made up to
45° to the left or right
• To adjust the bevel angle:
1. Invert the jigsaw and loosen but do not remove the two bevel locking screws using the
supplied Hex Key (17) (Fig. IV)
2. Align the two screws with the Bevel Guide Slots (10) (Fig. V)
3. Adjust the Shoe to the required angle using the Bevel Gauge (9) (Fig. VI)
4. Tighten the bevel locking screws
Note: Before use, ensure that the Adjustable Shoe is secured firmly in position.
Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye
protection when working with this tool.
WARNING: DO NOT use this tool without the Blade Guard (13) in place
WARNING: Allow the motor and blade to come to a complete stop before placing
the tool down. Always unplug the tool if it is to be left unattended.
• Ensure workpiece is secure before cutting
• ALWAYS ensure the ON/OFF Trigger Switch (1) is in the OFF position before connecting
the tool to the mains power supply
Switching ON & OFF
To switch the tool ON:
1. Hold the jigsaw securely using the Handle (3)
2. Squeeze the ON/OFF Trigger Switch (1) (Fig. VII)
3. Allow the blade to reach full speed before cutting
To switch the tool OFF:
1. When operating, release the ON/OFF Trigger Switch (1)
Note: this tool features a Lock ON mechanism for constant use when cutting longer workpieces.
To activate the Lock ON mechanism:
1. Squeeze the ON/OFF Trigger Switch (1)
2. While the ON/OFF Trigger Switch is pressed, press and hold the Lock ON Button (2) (Fig. VIII)
3. Release the ON/OFF Trigger Switch followed by the Lock ON Button
4. The tool will now remain ON
5. To deactivate the Lock ON feature, squeeze then release the ON/OFF Trigger Switch
Making a cut
WARNING: ALWAYS wear appropriate safety equipment. Use of this tool requires eye
protection, gloves, ear defenders, and good quality respiratory protection.
1. Hold the jigsaw securely by the Handle (3) and rest the front edge of the Adjustable Shoe
(8) on the edge of the workpiece (Fig. IX)
Note: If starting a cut away from the edge of the workpiece, drill a pilot hole inside the workpiece,
large enough for the blade to pass through, where you wish to start the cut.
2. Align the Cutting Guide (14) as a reference for the cutting line of the blade (Fig. X)
3. Check that the blade is not in contact with the workpiece, or any other object
4. Switch the tool ON (see 'Switching ON & OFF')
5. Allow the motor to reach full speed, and smoothly push the jigsaw forwards across the workpiece
6. Maintain a steady movement, and ensure that the Adjustable Shoe is kept pressed against the
workpiece. Ensure that the Power Cord (4) is kept away from the front of the saw during the cut
7. Allow the blade to pass through the material before releasing the ON/OFF Trigger Switch
8. Alternatively, if the cut does not reach the edge of the workpiece, back the saw blade teeth away
from the cutting face and release the ON/OFF Trigger Switch. Allow the blade to stop moving
before lifting out of the cut
9. DO NOT place the tool down until the motor and blade have completely stopped
Metal cutting
• ALWAYS use a suitable coolant/cutting oil when cutting metal. Failure to do so will cause
significant blade wear
• A continuous line of grease can be applied to the underneath of the workpiece, instead of
applying a coolant from above
• Apply lubricant or cutting oil between the blade and roller when cutting metal or other hard
materials. Failure to do so will shorten the service life of your blade and roller

Maintenance
WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out any inspection,
maintenance or cleaning.
General inspection
• Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They may vibrate loose over time
• Prior to each use, inspect the power supply cord of the tool for damage or wear. Repairs should
be carried out by an authorised Silverline service centre. This advice also applies to extension
cords used with this tool
Lubrication
• At regular intervals, lubricate all moving parts with a suitable lubricant spray
Cleaning
WARNING: ALWAYS wear protective equipment including eye protection and gloves when
cleaning this tool.
• Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear
quickly, and shorten the device's service life
• Clean the body of your tool with a soft brush, or dry cloth
• Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts. If dry cleaning is not sufficient, a mild
detergent on a damp cloth is recommended
• Water must never come into contact with the tool
• Ensure the tool is thoroughly dry before using it
• If available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation
holes (where applicable)
Brushes
• Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
• Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure, or visible sparking
• If you suspect that the brushes may be worn, have them replaced at an authorised
