Proper maintenance and immediate repair of any dam-
aged parts is an important part of keeping the sodcutter in
good operating condition. The following services and
procedures should be followed for proper storage of sod-
cutter.

DANGER
Always run engine where there is plenty of
fresh air to prevent buildup of carbon monox-
ide fumes. Carbon monoxide is colorless,
odorless and deadly. NEVER run unit in an
enclosed space where exhaust fumes can col-
lect.
Wear protective ye equipment when using
hammers, chisels, punches and drills.
When replacement parts are required, use only
genuine RYAN parts or parts with equivalent
characteristics including type, strength and
material. Failure to do so may result in product
malfunction and possible injury to the opera-
tor and/or bystanders.
Any warning decal which becomes illegible
MUST be replaced immediately.
The engine should be warm when changing
the engine oil. Stop engine and let cool before
servicing or making adjustments around the
engine area.
Use adequate lifting device to raise unit. Use
appropriate jack stands to support unit.
1. Lubricate in accordance with instructions and
illustrations in Lubrication Chart.
2. Change engine oil according to engine manual spec-
ifications.
3. Check for loose screws and connections and repair
as necessary.
4. Sharpen all cutting blades.
5. Check air filter and all fluid levels daily.
6. Check V-belt for frays, wear and proper adjustment.
7. Clean and oil drive chain to cut-off case.

SERVICE

1. Oil Level Screw (Fill until oil comes out)

Equipment is initially filled with 3 1/2 lbs. (1.75 kg) of EP
140 Gear Lube. This amount should be maintained for
proper lubrication of the gear case.
On all pressurized lubrication fittings, use a good grade
of lithium based lubricant or an equivalent.
NOTE: When lubricating the trunnion roller on the cut-
off, the cut-off must be tripped in order to rotate the
back roller to the top so the trunnion roller can be
lubricated properly.

Keep belt free of oil and dirt and adjusted to proper ten-
sion at all times.
